Sports Suspension Package x73

So the personalisation of my 981 PDK continues ?? Following my retro fitting of the PSE which smiles per mile is well worth it I’ve just booked it in for the x73 Sports Suspension Package. My cars a non PASM car so the x73 will drop it by 20mm giving it a sleeker meaner look and obviously make the car little stiffer but a lot more responsive. Looking forward to it. Fitting 5th May providing there’s no hold up on delivery of the parts from Germany ????.

Anyone else gone this route or had it specked new?

I hope to go this route by the end of 2021 so I am very interested to see what effects it has on your car. I am expecting the car to be much firmer but not so much as to ruin the driving pleasure. I was thinking of combining the X73 with some Porsche 5mm spacers at the same time for a slightly wider track and better stance.

Keep me posted please !

Will do. Hopefully will be joining R14 on the weekend following the fitting which is being done on the 5th May for a picnic run. Approximately 140 miles so fingers crossed it’ll be good feedback. Yes I was thinking spacers but I’ll probably do that after I get a feeling for the new set up if I think it needs it 👍

I'm sure it will take a few hundred miles, or even more, to really settle down to its final ride height and for you to bed into the new feeling of the car. It's got to be a worthwhile investment. Are you having the work carried out at an OPC or a specialist ?

I looked at doing this a while back, has there been much of a price increase? From memory I was quoted circa £2200 from my OPC.

Cheers,

James

That was indeed, just looked at the quote, £2194.34 fully fitted and aligned. Actual parts were only circa £1300.

The disclaimer being the quote is from 2017.... So I suspect a few price rises since then.

I will be using that information to bash my OPC with when the time comes :ROFLMAO:

Current price as advertised in the Porsche Tequipment catalogue is £2663. That’s what I’m paying. Good luck with getting a discoun. OPC told me its 8 hrs of labour. A full days work so doubt there’s much room for discount but best of luck 👍

Get the Porsche Club card out and claim the 10% discount !
Tried that last Nov when I had the PSE retro fitted. No chance. Price paid was that illustrated in the Porsche Tequipment catalogue. That was after they quoted way over the price and when I sent them the screen shot of the price as illustrated in the Tequipment catalogue they then honoured it. I don‘t have a great deal of clout in the dealership as I’ve never bought a car from them. Always buy private. Also took the car elsewhere last service after they quoted a stupid price only to revise it by £150 less when I said I was going elsewhere which I did as I didn’t like the initial over priced quote.

That's disappointing to hear. I have been successful in getting 10% off all parts and labour so far at my OPC but I mainly use my specialist as I like the team in there and the ability to get into the garage for a look around at the work going on.

i aim for 20% off parts but lately they seem to be jobs worth. If you don't get the 10% write a letter to the DP And Porsche club and ask why ?

I was getting 10% discount before joining Porsche Club on parts, but I wasn't getting it on the labour, but now I do. Still use my independent though as 10% of £155 per hour is still a bit steep.

Yes I’ve had 10% off parts when bought over the counter and taken away but on the retro fit of the PSE the price was the price as advertised in the Tequipment Catalog and the same this time unfortunately with the X73. I suppose if I bought just the parts and was taking them away I might get the 10%. It is what it is. Strangely I asked an Indy that I’ve used and trust about a retro fit of the x73 and they couldn’t beat the price!

Did you manage to get the suspension kit fitted on time ? Any reports ?

Unfortunately it seems the parts supply from Germany is a little more shall we say slow since Brexit has really kicked in. So it’s now been rescheduled for Monday 14th June. So fingers crossed no more delays and it’ll be fitted then. I’ll definitely post some thoughts on the x73 package once fitted 👍

Sorry to hear that. Took me 3 weeks to get screws for the roof of my new carport so I feel your pain [8D]

So the day has finally arrived👍 Dropped off the 981 to the local OPC for the retro fit of the X73 Sports Suspension Package. Hopefully I won’t regret my decision 🤞 Nice loan car but sadly not a 718 for me to have a little comparison between the four twin turbo and the NA flat six. But still a BMW MSport 340i. Nice car but just doesn’t float my boat as a weekend feel good car 👍
