Turbo Dynamics rebuilt and “hybridised” at my request my K26/8 from my 944T.

I say “rebuilt” but were it not for the bag of replaced parts they sent back with the turbo I would be inclined to believe that they had just binned and given me a new one.

Hi All,
Can anyone recommend someone to overhaul my K27 standard turbo which I have just taken out of my 930.
It works ok but has some oil getting through the bearings.

Turbo Technics in Northampton are very good for refurbishment / rebuild. They used to offer a collect and return service, which, if still available, was very useful.

This was the reply I got from Turbo Technics:

Unfortunately these turbos are no longer able to be rebuilt

No parts available

No parts can be made

No new units available

We used to be the only company that could rebuild these turbos – but the bearing housing we used – that we modified heavily for the application (as the original ones have long since not been made) even they are now no longer available so we cannot rebuild these turbos any more.

The only option you have is fit a 964 turbo and change the outlet pipe for the 964 item – but you may need to make/modify the pipe to the intercooler

5327-988-7200

These are also currently out of stock – but are still being made by BorgWarner – so unless someone somewhere has 930 unit in good condition or new hidden somewhere be looking for a 964 unit or waiting for them to return to stock.

AET Turbos said they can do an overhaul. I will check them out. Thanks Gordon.

Turbo Dynamics in Christchurch UK said they can help as well.

Abroad FVD Brombacher in Germany (fvd.net), Fabspeed in the USA
