My wife has a Cayenne 2004 petrol and the low oil pressure light is occasionally coming on

There appears to be nothing wrong with the engine. The car is running perfectly. It has been doing it for 9 months and only happens occasionally. We have changed the sensor, changed the oil and oil filter. The level of oil is always OK and we have checked the oil pressure and it is OK.

The light and alarm probably comes on for a few seconds every 100 miles.

We wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this, or if anyone has any advice before we invest in a new oil pump which we think is very expensive and we are not even sure if that is the problem.

Can anyone help?

Steve

Not sure if the same for a Cayenne engine but both my 996 GT3 & C4s would do this it was the Oil pressure sender.
Easy cheap fix.

Possibly a stupid question but I don’t know much about mechanical aspects of cars. Is an oil pressure sender the same as the oil pressure sensor? I ask because we have already replaced the oil pressure sensor and we we still getting an intermittent oil pressure warning but the pressure is okay when checked.
