993 Tyres

Personally, I would recommend sticking to the 265 on a Carrera 2 - no need for any bigger and they still look fine and do the job - although I know others have fitted 285 successfully but had to roll the rear arches slightly, I believe []

This has no doubt been covered previously but any thoughts appreciated. I have some 18 inch wheels being refurbed and need to choose tyres.
Has anyone used 285 rather than 265 tyres on 10x18 ET 65 rear rims.
If so have you experienced any rubbing or handling issues.
The idea of the 285’s sounds attractive and may fill the arches a little more.
Any thoughts or photos appreciated.

First question is what year car you intend to use them on .. there are restrictions / advice. Refer to the Classic Tyre test for permitted sizes by model ..

As noted, general balance F<>R is probaly best suited with the 225/40 265/35 combination : going to 285/30 rear would create less oversteer / more understeer. If your perception is of not neutral handling, take your pick.

I'm pretty sure 285s fit within the arches OK, without issues, and there's no issue with 285s going on those rims either.

Hi and thank you for your replies and observations. It is a 95 993 and the wheels are hollow spokes. I will stick with 265s as don’t wish to confuse or compromise anything.

just looking at cost of tyres and will most likely go for Michelin PS or something similar. Many thanks
