Brake pads and discs

What type of mileage does anyone typically get from their brake pads and disks? I have done 28,000miles and they are being recommended for replacement Pads are 5-6mm with a 2mm minimum and disks 32.30 with a recommended 32.0 minimum.

You have a few more miles left in those brakes yet, I would think. [:)]

The thing to remember about brakes is that, unless you are into DIY, your car will only be serviced every 2 years so pads, rotors and hydraulic fluid will need to have sufficient life in them to last this period.

Mine (GTS) lasted less than 30k and both front and rear discs and pads were an easy DIY replacement. I've posted here https://www.porscheclubgb../forum/FindPost/1052730 how to do rears
What surprised me was that it was the rears that were more worn than the fronts
Remember there is a wear indicator light that will come on when you are getting close to the limit and even when that goes on you will still have 500-1000 miles of use.

Depending on driving style, cars with PTV often seem to wear rears out faster than fronts.

Clive

My S (petrol engine) went ~44k miles and then needed discs and pads all round. I guess the wife has a heavy foot :)

My 2020 S had new pads last week after 19,750 miles in response to a message from the wear sensor. I was greatly surprised to find that this originated from the rear pads. I don't have PTV but have been told (confirmation will be welcomed) that the Adaptive CC also uses the rear brakes. This seems reasonable as I do use ACC on virtually every outing.

Bet they didn't tell you about excessive pad wear when you specified the ACC?

Indeed not but I'm not regretting it, some wear will just have been relocated from the front although some will be "extra" with the computer braking when I might have just "lifted off". It will surely influence my use of the ACC in future but rear brakes are cheaper than fronts and even cheaper still than bending metal!
