Wave or scowl

Just reading a few posts and the comments re waving and was it you? The lock down escape of late has been to drive to South Shields, park on the front and purchase an ice cream from a local well know supplier. Of late, I have been able to park directly outside, always a bonus. As my wife and I have stood in the queue, many walkers have stopped and admired the car. Many have stopped and spoken to us, one even offering his dog in exchange. Everyone has been more than pleasant. The most common question being.... "what colour is that?"

Then a drive up the coast to Roker and exchange nods and waves with all manner of car owners, I find Scooberoos very engaging. It just brightens the day, followed by a quick thrash down the A1M. Normally pursued by an Audi driver. Job done spirits lifted. Then you see a Porsche driver raise a hand and they look back as if they have trodden in something.

Do you wave? Return waves? Nod head? Scowl? I am like the Churchill dog.

I know it's drivel, but it is Saturday morning..... (I know it's Friday)

I always wave, not sure how many of the other drivers see me though as they’re usually hurtling past in a blur ☺️. I know what you mean though, so many people completely ignore you. Same when we are out on the bikes, some nod - Harley Riders never do ( too busy looking macho and cool 😂)

Been a while since I was at Marsden Rock ...

I`m the `not for waving` , scowling or anything else type ... not out of ignorance but then I also have an Audi :p :ROFLMAO:

EDIT : ... apart from the islands around Orkney, where there are so few cars that it is `the local custom` to wave

Too busy gripping the wheel of the Audi to make it go faster 😂😂😂😁 Similarly BMW drivers are too busy using their hand to operate the indicators... I also have a BMW.☺️

In the 8 years of Porsche ownership I've found waving at other owners gets variety of responses from a confused look, ignored or the occasional wave back (in that order greatest>least) which happens more frequently if I have the lights up. I've put it down to the fact that a lot of people just lease Porsches as 'a car' and don't get involved in the social side.

When I'm parked up or sat in stationary traffic I get quite a bit of interaction with general folk so sounds like our experiences are the same.

Around Formby, full of pumped up Chelsea tractors on PCP's driven by blond athletic stay at home wives ( husbands go to work on the train) & Teslas, you never get any reaction.

Go to fill up with fuel, both my wife & myself nearly always get some older bloke coming over to chat & tell you" I had one of those-best car I ever had-wish I still had it ,etc.

On the roads ,most interest is from Fiesta drivers determined to outgun you from Traffic lights or any stationary situation.

Yes, I always wave at Porsches - even at Macans and Cayennes but I’ve yet to have one of them wave back. Obviously haven’t met Greg and Deb on the road in theirs!

As others say: mixed response from other Porsches. I also wave at ”interesting” cars - depends what they are driving whether they deign to reply! (NB I don’t mean Audis or BMWs, sorry).

I'm one that tends to wave at other Porsches, or flash the headlights.

Its hit and miss, you get a couple that flash/wave back, and some that look at you gone out.

Few years ago I was driving over Blakey Ridge with my young lad in the North Yorks Moors and a Porsche came round the corner towards me and I flashed and waved my hand out as the roof was down.

Got a flash and a wave back.[8D]

Quickly followed by about 20 other Porsches going to Whitby on the Fish'n'Chip run :ROFLMAO:

All flashing and waving.

Joined PCGB shortly afterwards [:)]

Out for a drive last Sunday and was overtaken by a 968, oddly enough returned home and saw a FB entry from a 986 owner, it was the same guy who had passed me on the A19 southbound. Entered into a bit of banter as he had also noticed my car, compliments exchanged. Beats waving.
