Hi there,
Last year I decided to backdate my 1986 Carrera 3.2. The car needed lots of body work and attention, so I decided to go down the route of backdating instead. I always liked the shape of a early 70ties ST. I am not building a race car, but aiming to match an original ST as close as possible. I am now 6 months into the project and happy to share the progress and my experience.

Here a picture of the original 3.2
I will upload more ASAP.

Ralf,

Posting images this way will enable them to be displayed on the forum, not just as url links.

Apart from all the rust removal (lots of new steel parts), I added ST flares, 3-piece rear bumper and fibre front bumper.
Inside the car pretty much everything went. I backdated the dashboard, original 32cm hockey puck steering wheel, original handbrake with old heater leavers, replaced seats, carpets, door cards, etc.
Square metal side mirrors, new fuse panels, centre fill tank and original 15” Fuchs wheels in RSR optic ("so proud to have them”).
The engine is my old 3.2 litre, overhauled with 964 camshafts, SSI heat exchanger and RSR muffler.
I think you can argue that I am keeping my sunroof, but I like the fresh air, particular with no aircon in the car.

Ralf, please keep us updated. Also an article in Porsche Post would be good. Well done, keep it up.

Nice to see this... who's doing the work?
I have a similar project ongoing at Ninemeister using a LHD 1987 3.2 fitted with 993 3.6 (301hp on the dyno) motor and G50. 16" 7 & 9 Fuchs, LSD, Bilsteins and turbo suspension. Boxster brakes. All steel panels. should be ready for paint within a couple of weeks. It also has the Classic Retrofit A/C which installed. Some internal refurbing in progress.
I went for the old 356 colour aquamarine blue with orange highlights and side transfers. All fittings in chrome/anodised. Setting it up for touring.

That looks nice! Lovely to see another one getting saved for posterity. I will post some pics, but will start another thread when I have time as I don't want to muscle in on yours. Nice to see the Classic Retrofit fuse panel too. I'm not sure when it's going to be finished, but it should be May at a guess... we hit issues with getting front and rear bumper panels from France compounded with Brexit customs delays.
We're currently scheduled to be away in late August subject to lockdowns etc. Have got a WOTY weekend and NW 500 scheduled so far. Have hung onto my Targa meantime just in case.

We had similar issues with shipments from Germany, due to new Brexit rules.
The work around is to send private packages (private to private), declared as gifts. That worked for me.
