Parking brake warning light

Hi - just wondering if anyone might have experienced this or might have some knowledge of this. Had my 991.1 (manual) C4S serviced (major) by Porsche a couple of months back. Car has about 18k miles with FSH and Porsche warranty. Parking brake has never been a problem though techs said that they adjusted the parking brake shoes at last service. Probably only done about 200 miles since. Today for first time ever, I got a yellow warning light stating ”release parking brake” and "parking brake fault”. The red parking brake symbol on panel and parking brake switch also flashed red. It went way on start up but back each time parking brake applied. Aside from that, car is going well. Anyone got any ideas. Thanks Kenny

You’re not alone on this one. I had the very same problem recently N my 991.2 C2. OPC adjusted the brakes (not sure exactly what they did) and it’s been ok so far but I haven’t been in the car much since then due to lockdown and bad weather. Sounds like you’ll need to go back and have them look at it again. I wonder if lack of use is causing some rust deposits or dirt to accumulate and it’s affecting any sensors?

Many thanks. I am going to drop it into them on Thursday so they can take a look since it’s under warranty. Lack of use might be a contributory factor and on more than one occasion Porsche have indicated to me (when they have been addressing some other minor "ailments”) that I might not be driving it often enough or even hard enough. Seems you need to let these things ”stretch their legs” and "clear their throats” on a fairly regular basis? It’s driving well though the poor weather etc have also been a restriction. Hopefully they can sort it out okay.
