997 Help

Neil G

PCGB Member
Hi
Im looking to purchase a 997 and have around 25k to spend after searching the IMS bearing issue it has got me totally confused.

Is the 2007 997 IMS issue fixed? No upgrade needed for total piece of mind?
If I purchase an earlier year should I get the bearing upgraded?
Should I get a PPI at Porsche done before purchase?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil. I suggest you read all the buying guides on the PCGB website. That’s what I did and it was really helpful. I agree there is a lot of confusion between the IMS and bore scoring issues between the 996 and 997.1 cars.

Hi Neil
I was at MLR Porsche workshop yesterday, and they have a 997 Targa which has just had a complete engine rebuild and is nearing ready for sale. I believe that comes under your budget and the potential 'issues' with bore scoring, IMS etc would have been dealt with.
No affiliation with Marc there, just he's done a lot of work on my cars over the years!

Morning Graham,

Thanks again for the contact with Marc.

I went to see them Saturday great people, the Targa looked fantastic and decided to put deposit down.

Should be ready in one to two weeks.

Cant wait

Neil
