Corrosion inside bonnet

Hi Everyone. I have a 2010 997.2 and have noticed what appears to be some very slight corrosion on the underside of the bonnet (luggage compartment) around the lock/latch ie directly under the Porsche badge. Nothing showing on the top surface at all and looks like just the inside skin of metal. Doesn’t look rusty ie yellow, just bubbling paint. I’ve smeared in grease to hopefully stop water getting in. Just wondered if anyone else was aware of this as a 997 or 911 issue? I must admit that the lock area inside the top of the bumper does appear to trap water. Any thoughts appreciated.

The corrosion will be under the latch (noted particularly on a friend’s 997).
Because the latch is bolted in position, this breaks the surface of the painted metal underside section of the bonnet and any dampness or condensation can make this happen over time.

Remedy by removing latch and cleaning with thorough re-rustproofing and re-painting only.

Thank you that’s useful to know. Its only very slight currently but will keep an eye on it. Maybe a job for the summer!
