Since initial issues with the lithium battery power drain I am fairly confident the car can be left a few days (7 the longest) without
electrical failure because the battery has disconnected. Obviously the car has little use whilst lockdown remains and I feel I should have established rear wheel steering requires a lithium battery when the spec selection was pencilled in.
Whilst spending quite a while reading through the handbook I am unable to find reference to the voltmeter bar readout which at present
moves to the halfway point . Is this showing the rate of charge or how much charge the battery has (ie as on i phones). The voltgage reads between 13.1 and 13.5 and seems to fluctuate between these readings even after 20 miles.
Any observations would be most welcome

I would assume the voltage meter simply displays the voltage across the battery terminals. When the engine is off, it would display the current battery state.

The voltmeter DOES NOT measure remaining battery charge/energy; ie it is not comparable with the battery indicator on a phone which is estimating the remaining usable energy within the battery.

When fully charged, I believe a LiPO battery will read 13.3-13.4V. When the engine is running and battery being charged, this would be the "charge" voltage which will vary according to the state of charge of the battery. If the battery is depleted (say holding only 30% charge), the voltage will go higher - maybe up to 14.5V on a LiPO. If the battery is 90% charged, the voltage would be lower. A LiPO battery, even with a low state of charge will still read 13V or so making it difficult to assess the actual energy remaining in the battery.

It sounds like your battery is okay as it is hovering around that fully charged voltage even when engine is running.

According to Porsche, a fully charged battery should last around 6 weeks when the car is left idle. However, my past experience (predominantly with my 997) is that a 3 week idle period is enough to deplete the battery to the state it would not spin the engine adequately. Nowadays, I put my car on a battery maintainer if I know it will be idle for 2 weeks or more.

My car has an AGM battery so I cannot provide a direct comparison in terms of voltages.

Many thanks for this information!
I think you’re advice regarding the period left unused is pretty much the conclusion I reached. Anyway the voltm
explanation was very helpful as I was
unaware of what a healthy reading should be.
