When were the oldest 911SC’s built and UK registered?

Hi all,

I was wondering whether it would be possible to find the build date and registration for the earliest UK 911SC’s.
Mine has the vin 9118300857 registered 1/11/1977 bought from the long gone Malaya Garage.

Porsche GB were as helpful as they could be but say they are unable to access any information and replied:

[FONT=porsche next"]"I have had a response from my colleagues at Porsche AG, unfortunately they have confirmed to me that it is not possible for them to confirm total amounts of vehicles sold to the Great Britain market as their systems will no longer show this information, even for current cars they are only able to see total production of a model type in a certain year rather than for each individual market. They have also confirmed they will not release a full list of VIN/Chassis numbers for any model of vehicle due to customer confidentiality. [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

[FONT=porsche next"]I know from a contact in the 912 register for the Porsche Club that when they wanted to update their records, they had to work out the VIN's manually to create a list of them.”[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Please can anyone help in this quest for knowledge?

If you can, you should get hold of Michael Cotton's book "The Porsche 911 and derivatives including 959" which records all the factory details up to 1985
The SC is the K and L series of cars, first chassis number in 1977 is 9118300001 so 911300857 is in the first batch which goes up to 911302438.
The 91182xxxxx are US versions.
Targas are 911831xxxx etc.
The 1978/9 series are 91193xxxx (US versions 91192xxxx).
The A series cars are the 1979/80 and have chassis numbers in the form 91AO130001 onwards.
Hope this helps.

Brilliant book....worth tracking one down. First published in 1980 by Motor Racing Publications Ltd, and re-printed 5 times thereafter.
A little biased maybe.....we published it ??

Also recommend ‘Porsche 911 - RED BOOK 1965-1999’ (first printed 2000 in USA), is also a great reference book I’ve had for years [;)], has all the above numbers, etc for US, ‘Rest of World’, etc.

Credit where it is due - an excellent publication.
Mine's a Second Edition, 1985 issue, so the later editions are perhaps more comprehensive.
Wouldn't want a First Edition - too early for my 1981 SC
Happy motoring...[8D]
