Cheers Dave.  Pardon my track day naivete, but in that case what is stopping someone stacking his uninsured car into mine, or stopping me from rear-ending a GT2 RS and having to sign a very large cheque?  Is it just the number of cars allowed out at any one time and the time gaps between each driver?

All drivers take to the track at their own and their car's risk.

There are a number of mitigating factors applied at trackdays which act as incentives for everyone to avoid collisions. These include track rules imposed and policed by organisers, eg the number of cars allowed on track at any one time (but not the gap between cars) and only allowing overtaking on the left (at Croft) on the straights, it is expected that if a much faster car approaches you that on the next available straight you indicate right and pull across (while still driving forwards yourself) to let it by. Any drivers not following the overtaking rules are usually warned once and then removed from any further participation in the day if transgressing for a second time. There are marshals positioned all around the track so infringements are easily spotted and reported; organisers do not want collisions on their safety record.

Then there is the natural concern all drivers will have regarding costly damage to their own car, and liability if you damage any of the track furniture - crash barriers etc.

Collisions are rare - although not impossible - at trackdays organised by sensible and responsible companies. The greatest risk of damage to your own car is by driving beyond your, or the car's, limits and 'going off'.

Take it easy, enjoy your track time by sticking to speeds you feel comfortable with. As the day goes on your knowledge of the track, and how much adhesion there is, will develop and you'll find yourself being able to go a little quicker, if you want to, but still within your comfort zone.

Remember, it's not a race.

Hi Willardfan,

I see your gauging interest in a track day at Croft. Please let me know if you manage to get one organised. I would love to come along for the day and get a feel for my 911 on a track.

As for weekend or weekday preference, i would be happy to go with the flow subject to not having any other commitments on the day in question.

Many thanks,

Nick

Welcome Nick.  Glad to have you onboard.  Try to get along to some of the other events before this (when we actually have some events to go to!).

Look forward to meeting you and your car.

Gordon.

Hi Nick

Welcome to the forum!

Glad the potential (everything's only a possibility at the moment, isn't it?) of some track experience has piqued your interest. Don't forget the national club has a trackday scheduled at Croft on 23rd June too, places can be booked through the club website's events section.

Hope to be able to meet you at other R3 events in the not too distant future, fingers crossed. Keep an eye on the regional forum and calendar for latest arrangements.

Great news, John has secured a great price and exclusive R3 booking with Javlin, along with a further 5% discount for a second Javlin trackday at any of their other events.

Today we have emailed booking details and the special password to R3 members who expressed a interest in this event.  However, we are unable to identify the following members from their Forum "Handle":  GNJonM, AndrewCS, Dantheman1987, amcamc, JohnCRS, Fatenbread and nicksporsche.  Would you please email r3@porscheclubgb.com so that we can forward you the booking details, please use the subject titles "R3 Trackday 22 September" to enable us to identify your email quickly.

Very well done, John, glad you managed to arrange this.

Could I just repeat your advice to book promptly for anyone who thinks they may be interested in this.  There will be a maximum number for the event and, as this is open to other groups, it could easily get booked up which will restrict our numbers.

The R3 track day is scheduled for Wednesday 22nd September 2021.

Members who have already expressed an interest should have received an email from R3 with a link and password to access the booking details and discounted price.

If you have not received the email check Philip's latest post in this thread to see if he needs your email address.

It is important to book now as track days are filling fast, even as far away as September.

If you haven't indicated your interest already PM, or email, Philip to receive the booking details.

Look forward to seeing you on track!

John

Hello again fellow track enthusiasts.

It would be really helpful if you could confirm your booking with a post on this thread, thanks to those who've already done so, as it will help us with monitoring numbers.

Cheers
