Best modified Porsche `ever` ?

Thanks for posting the links Andrew, that is one wonderfully engineered machine, and as such piques my interest, given that quality engineering is that which attracted me to a sports car that I had looked upon as a souped up Beetle until I drove my 912, which would seem to be far closer to a souped up Beetle than anything with the name tag Porsche that is being produced by the VW parent company today..?
Seems even a Porsche as special as the Singer/Tuthill is unlikely to elicit much interest on this forum... Pity.

I must admit to a fan boy affiliation :rolleyes: with Tuthill`s, having visited their place a while back and subsequently driven their 911 rally cars
 
I have to admit that the name Tuthill very rarely appeared on the periphery of my Porsche vision over the years, but then I was never into rallying in any big way.
When younger like most I rather fancied I could "drive," but to be a rally driver seemed to require somewhat less of a desire to go on living than was natural for me, knowing well that trees are rather solidly fixed to the ground, and seem to be rather effective tin openers..!!!
I am ever amazed at the skills of rally drivers while watching the on-board video footage, and tend find myself looking for the brake pedal on my armchair..! I only ever related lock to lock steering with rally driving until I watched the rather famous RUF Yellow Bird vid at the Nurburgring many years ago... I guess that was when I decided in reality despite many laps around Knockhill in my 911 and others, I really had no idea what driving fast was all about..!

Watching the Yellowbird video (one of the very few videos I bought back in the old days!) makes you realise just how far suspension and tyres have come in the last 20 years. The visible hard work just balancing the car, even on the straights. I bet those bikers still get the jitters thinking about the way they were passed. The speed differential was incredible.

I think it might have been one of the very early EVO mag issues doing a feature on it. Possibly John Barker was a passenger when the rear tyre blew and did a fair bit of damage to the wing. 'Oh, it often does that' was the driver's comment. A good story anyway.

I am a central belt inhabitant and had hoped to see you more Northern Porsche types at the track day you arranged at Knockhill, but there were access issues re Covid. Fortunately for me with a bit of assistance from Tony Foster (R1 organiser) and Donald Hossack I was able to attend the last two Porsche track events to grab a few pics. Some really superb machinery but only one air cooled on track, changed days from my time..(-:
JohnCRS, I bought that tape too, it was a while back.(-: Yeah there is a whole world of difference relative to steering and general driver input between the air cooled and later cars perhaps no better demonstrated than comparing Yellow Bird vid with the on board vid from the GT3 RS which is so much smoother more efficient and no doubt faster..

Being an old duffer, contemplating the ever increasing complexity and power output of sports cars, on occasion I could be found scratching my head and wondering how much is too much..? I was surprised and pleased to find that JWW seemed to arrive at much the same question when driving the GT2RS, perhaps I am not so much of an old duffer after all and the GT2RS is my current top Porsche choice ... (-:

I am pleased the CGTS lap was a new one for you and that you enjoyed it Andrew. I have watched a few of JWW`s vids and he revs the nuts of just about everything he drives, definitely has no mechanical sympathy for sure. I guess he must have good financial back-up..?
I suspect that the GT2RS is too much of a beastie for me. In truth I would be more than happy to have either my black or red 911 SCs back in the garage, they were nothing special in terms of trim or tune but they were special to me none the less.. (-: I can not fault your choice of Tuthill Porsche. at a push I could take one of those too...(-:

With a bit of luck our paths may cross in time Andrew, I am lined up for my first anti Covid jab on the 4th of Feb. thus I may be allowed out in a month or so, all being well for the country as a whole.

Having just 'wasted' a significant portion of yesterday watching these, thanks to all for posting them. Some I had seen before, but still a great refresh opportunity; very enjoyable. The safari models are not my favourite Porsches and it would be good to see a Singer take on one of the rally cars in the last video. The finish and attention to detail is amazing, perhaps OTT, but my main question is how on earth they get everything back to showroom condition after the offroad and beach runs? I have a feeling that if I took my car within a mile of salt water the brakes would corrode and the exhaust would fall off.

Roll on the opportunity to see some of these things for real.
