Does a 944 oil filter fit a 924 Turbo ?

I have just noticed that on my 924 Carrera GT that the garage fitted a Mahle OC142 - 944/ 968 oil filter.
I have been told by another garage that this shouldn't be fitted to a 924 as it can cause problems.
Can anyone confirm if the filter is ok to use or am I best to change it for the correct oem or Mahle OC47 filter
Thanks

A quick look on the Mahle website and the two filters have various differences and clearly specify different models. For the sake of an oil filter I'd get it changed especially on a CGT, not worth the risk of oil starvation due to a £12 part.

I have changed the filter for a new oem part, to be safe.
I am just mystified as to why a well know Porsche Specialist garage would feel it necessary to fit a 944 filter when a 924 part is readily available.
I have been advised that the 944 filter has a one way valve in it, but I'm not sure on this one.
It is a lot bigger than the 924 filter, so has more filtration, but there must be a reason as to why it's not suitable for a 924.
