OPC Costs vs Independent Specialists (Example)

As part of major service this* got flagged up in the health check. I though the estimate was very high even for OPC.

Went to two reputable independent Porsche specialists ( ~ 1 hour around NW London area) and got back ~£380 from both using Porsche Parts.

Worth looking around and don't forget you might be able to get a discount with your members card!

Exhaust System and Underbody Protection £1,212.00 Exhaust fixings heavily corroded recommend remove and re install new bolts and nuts = Parts exhaust bolts and nuts

Interesting, I had exactly the same "corrosion" report and quotation. My bolts are clearly corroded but that is to be expected on a car with a 7+ year old exhasut... I can remeber the days when an exhaust lasted a year and cost a couple of hundred pounds to replace... £1,200 for 6 bolts!

Interesting its the same quote! Guess bit of an easy money maker for them for them ... at least until electric cars are fully mainstream then what will they come up with I wonder ... software upgrades .... [8|]

Not really surprising, at a previous health check I was quoted £150 to clear the ventilation holes in my front discs of brake dust!! :ROFLMAO:

Guess not - as bad if not worse than the £40 they were asking to change a 50p battery in the key fob!

I was quoted £100 by a London OPC to drill four holes into my new plates and to fit them to the car with four screws. The OPC I bought my car from supplied the plates but forgot to drill the holes when they made up new number plates for my private registration.
I balked at the cost and refused to pay this even though the OPC I bought the car from told me they would reimburse me. I sent the London OPC an email explaining I bought my first 911 from them and my new 991.2 GTS was due a major service in a matter of months. Plus the fact that I am local to them and wanted to establish a relationship with them but they never responded so that was that.
I ended up using another OPC who made up new plates and fitted them for £35.
