Cleaning/Conditioning of leather in 1994 993 C2

Hi everyone. I have recently had a single panel of the driver seat (squab) re-coloured (mid grey) to excellent effect and am now conscious of the fact that I have neglected to clean the seats for 16 years! Been doing research and it seems that the procedure is different depending on whether the seats are "coated" or "non coated" (older cars). I've managed to find 2 comments on the same Rennlist string that completely contradict each other!! Can anyone definitively say whether my seats will be coated or not and recommend any products amongst the thousands out there? Many thanks. Charles

Hi Charles,
In April / May this year I had decided to refurbish both my 993 metropole blue leather seats.
I watch Wheeler Dealers from time to time and saw that Mike Brewer took some Porsche seats
to a company quite local to me. I had a quote for the seats which was as follows:-
To remove seats and clean and recolour them will cost £300 and we would need the car for 2 days

They also said they would refurb the gear knob whilst doing the seats. The company is Autoretrim located in Quarry Bank.
Website is Autoretrim.co.uk
.

Thanks for your replies, guys but it was always my intension to try and do something myself and now I have! I have used Colourlock products to clean all the leather, then re-colour the steering wheel, gear knob and gator, and hand brake lever - plus repair a tear! I can only say the products are fantastic with loads of YouTube clips as well as a chap at the end of the phone for advice!! All this has made it easy to end up with a very professional result. My mate now wants me to touch in some colour on a seat in his Aston Martin......!!

My steering wheel is the worse for wear. The weather up here in t'grim North mean it gets damp in winter, eventually a chunk has come out. I need to find someone to refurb it.
I'll have a look for colourlock.
I bought the car with an aluminium gear knob, looks nice but when it's - 5c it's too cold to touch

Hi Johnny
Colourlock UK are really helpful. Send them a photo of your damage and they will come back to you with advice. There are Youtube clips showing the filling of holes so if you are a DIYer then it is worth a go. Sorry I can't point you in the direction of someone to do the job for you, but I see there is a suggestion earlier in this string. Good luck.
Charles
