thinking about buying a battery conditioner while car is in the garage for winter.should I disconnect the battery and leave the conditioner on or leave battery connected

Leave the battery connected. I have owned my 991.1 C2S from new (six years) and often have to leave it in the garage for up to a year and use a CTEK MXS 5.0 without a problem. Some connect the negative to the body but both of mine run to the battery and are permanently fixed. If you have a concern talk to your maintainer or OPC.

Peter,

The battery is an AGM type (I assume Banner brand) so you just need one that is suitable for charging that type, the CTEK MXS 5.0 mentioned above is one and others models such as the CT5 Stop/Start you mention.

Peter,
Some new 992's are currently coming through with lithium batteries fitted and these require a different type of Ctek charger, so it would be as well to check which is fitted to yours have before making a connection.

Regards,

Clive
