Porsche Specialist in Cambridge Area

Hi All

Does anyone on here know of and can recommend a good Specialist in the Cambridge area or North Essex?

Adam

Adam,

You don’t say where you’re located but quite a few Members in R24 Cambs & Beds and R10 MK & Northants use Dove House in Rushden. They’re a decent outfit with quite a few ex-Porsche technicians and their labour rate is about half that of the PCs, plus there’s a discount on labour for Club Members.

I‘ve used them once for a rear brake pad change and was very satisfied with their work. Worth investigating, but you need to be cautious using a specialist if you’re still under the factory warranty or if you have Porsche’s Extended Warranty.

Hi Jeff

I’m in Saffron Walden, work in Epping (normally). Rushden is a bit of a trek.

Why do I need to be cautious if under warranty, I have just extended mine for a further year. Is it that non OPC’s can’t deal with Warranty claims?

Adam

Adam,

I’m sure that there’s a closer Porsche specialist to you. Probably best to contact your Regional Secretary for advice on that.

I doubt that any specialist would be prepared to take on Porsche Extended Warranty work since it would have to go through Porsche for approval, so I’m sure you’re stuck with the Official Porsche Centre network. The Extended Warranty is a third party insurance policy with very strict T&Cs which you need to read very carefully to find out what’s allowed, but your Dealership will be able to advise you.

Tony at Carrera Engineering in Nazeing, just south of Harlow, did my Porsches for many years before I moved to WA. 01992892333. Has a web site Carrera Engineering and Motorsport so if you work in Epping its not far away.[:D]

A bit further but a cut above the rest for an independent is Steve Winter at Jaz.

In St Albans highly recommend.
