Frentech - Brake parts

Hi all,
Has anyone any experience of Frentech-UK parts for brake servicing/re-building? I'm considering whether to powder coat or just paint brake calipers and it'll largely depend if I can face a full rebuild and the cost of the parts to do it. Or indeed any other suggested suppliers for late model turbo/S2 brake re-build kits...
Many thanks,
Phil.

I'm doing both 944 turbo and 996 C2tip brakes, I'm surprised the boxster seals are the same as the 944 turbo seals. Does that mean they will fit both 944 and 996 as well? Frentech have kits for the 944, but I can't find a kit on their site for the 996 at the moment. Just wondered if anyone had experience o them...

I intend to overhaul the front calipers on my 91 turbo at some point. When I shopped around just to find out what the rebuilders wanted, some wouldn't/couldn't do my calipers. I guess it gets much more expensive if pistons need replacing.

I think Frentech might be your answer too. Just checked with them and they have parts for both 996 and 944 including pistons. Seal kits just £20 for 2 calipers.

Just for info, all brembo seals are the same regardless of the car, you buy them by size

a 44mm seal in a 944 is exactly the same as a 44mm seal in a Ferrari 355 or a Boxster

if you look at Mode Performance site you can buy all the seals and dust covers individually genuine brembo so not as cheap as Frentech

Thanks for the info. Think I may need a compressor to remove the pistons.
I have a small compressor, but found a push-bike pump more effective. Worked a treat.

Don't know how true it is, but I've read the discs that come in a Porsche box work much better than the aftermarket versions that are much cheaper?

the problem with that is we dont know who made the factory ones, I know its not Porsche who make them, they make very little

Sebro
Zimmerman
Textar
Pagid
ABS
Bosch

and the list goes on, it probably the best deal they can get at the time, made to the specs they provide
So far in my experience the cheapo Pagid ones from Euro Car Parts are rubbish

Good idea, how did you connect it to the caliper bleeder?

Pagid used to be good, but the name is now owned by ECP, make of that what you will.. my trade info is that the current range of Pagid discs fall well short of the quality from when Pagid were free agents.

all i can say from experience is the pagid discs for the 944 turbos they sell are fakes , i ended up getting my money back after showing them the scoring and that was from there pagid brakes too. i gave both discs and pads back and got my money back. no quibbling and bought them from Frazerpart and had this conversation with him and got the information to stay clear as that’s what was happening. they appparently have a licence to put poor quality copies in original packaging. the real pagid set i have on the car have been perfect and stopping power with rehauled calipers is far superior to what double the cost of drilled discs have been in past and i didn’t even get this far with the ECP set and they rin bed up.

the materials are a perfect match frazer told me and his correct as i can feel and see that now.

I used a tyre valve and just held it against the brake line hole after removing the calliper from the car. Used a block of wood to get all pistons protruding the same...

Helpful Waylander thanks. Looks like Mode performance are either shut for lockdown or closed down though. Number is not in use anymore...

Yes don’t look good for another small company
you don’t have to get COVID-19 to be a casualty of it

and there are plenty of axle sets on eBay for £20 ish, for that money you can Chuck away the bits you don’t need

i have rebuild 6-7 sets of 968 Brembos, and 2 sets of big blacks for others, used genuine brembo in those, but used the eBay in my own car, I could not tell any difference, the cheapos even have the same colour coded marks on them

Think I recall Jon Mitchell posting something about using re-anodised pistons, if doing an 'as new' refurb. And it was quite expensive, but Jon is running a business after all. Are the original pistons ali, and the aftermarket pistons stainless?
