Hi all,
So ive had my 911 since June and all is well. I now am looking at replacing the fronts as they are near the end of their life (rears are good till prob mid 2021). Looking at the sizes i currently have on OEM 997 alloys (some googleing P/N 99736213701 front, 99736214105 rear) are 235/40 r18 front and 265/40 r18 rear all N spec. Now I read these sizes are incorrect according to the book, although nothing feels off. Questions i have are;
  1. Why would someone choose these tyre sizes?
  2. assuming i change them one axle at a time, will tracking/allignment need to be adjusted too? Worth noting that there is no adverse ware and allignment was done in 2019 about 6k miles ago.
Worth noting that mechanically this car has a recipted history going back to 2002! It does not appear neglected in terms of service work so i do not believe having a non-standard tyre size has been done for financial reasons.

Thanks

Changed out the front tyres for a pair of Michelin 225/40 R18 in the end. When I get the car serviced in 2021 I'll change the rears to 285/30
