Hi All,
Hope all well and safe wherever you are!?
As a new member and Porsche owner I would love to be able to enjoy ownership with like minded people, particularly linked to weekend drives where possible.

I'm your typical first time owner who has always wanted a 911 ever since I could remember, and decided now or never!
She sits in the garage all week on a trickle charger , I visit every day just to put a smile on my face, and keen to take her out for a run on Saturday/Sunday mornings, been doing so since purchase a few weeks back.
But thought it may be more fun to be driving with others, numbers obviously restricted with current policies , hence this note to see if there were any members in Leicester who would like to meet up for an hour or so for a spirited drive, whilst possibly recommending some great routes to be taking at the same time?!
I'm keen to join one of the Coopers Arms meets once they are up and running again, but weekly/fortnightly run could be great in-between!
Look forward to hearing from anyone who could be interested.

Cheers,
Jas

Hi Jas. Good to hear from you and welcome to Porsche ownership. I'm sure you won't regret it!

There are, as I hope you'll understand, no formal organised runs at the moment but I suggest you join the R8PCGB Facebook group and ask there if anyone wants to join up for a run out. I'm sure there will be some very keen to get out - obviously playing by the rules. Leicester has been particularly badly hit I gather. If you aren't already on Facebook just ask to join quoting your location and membership number and perhaps you'll find some new friends.
I for one can't wait to get back to our monthly gatherings. I'm missing all the R8 friendly faces.

Best wishes

Laura

Thanks Laura,
Typically things have just got worse for all, fingers crossed all will look a little better in a months time!

Cheers,
Jas

Hi Jas

I am a new member to this club as well, just re-entering the Porsche scene after a few years away.

I live on the outskirts of Leicester so not a million miles away, I've just put a deposit on a 911 so pending it passing its inspection i'm hoping to get my hands on it in the next few weeks. I will be defiantly up for few runs out in the near future especially if this sun stays around for a bit longer.

Hopefully we will get a chance to meet up
Drew

Hi Jas

Im in Leicestershire (market harborough) and struggle to meet up with the group so would be happy to meet up for a drive as some point.

Thanks

Dave

Good to hear from you Drew and Dave,
I was getting to the stage of thinking there was no one in our area interested , a fun drive is great , but a 'convoy' of orsom cars is even better!!
Drew, good luck with your new purchase , must admit so far I have loved the experience!
I'm in Oadby and run up the A6 through Market Harborough quite often , so literally just up the road Dave.
Typically we are now in lockdown again , so shall we try and arrange the first weekend we come out ?
Fingers crossed if all goes well with the PPI Drew will have his 911 sorted by then to.

Very much looking forward to!
Cheers,
Jas

Well i am pleased to say the PPI went with very well, so i have paid for the car and i'm just awaiting a few little things to be sorted before i collect it. I hope to have it next week so count me in for a run out with you both once lockdown has finished, not sure if i will manage the first weekend but i'm definitely free most of December (week days and weekends).

Hope to catch up soon
Drew

Well done Drew, Big congratulations , look forward to seeing the new purchase!!

Jas

Hi jas, Dave

i live in market harborough and am convoying with a group of other midlands based Porsche owners to Beaulieu on Sunday morning, you are welcome to join us if you are booked in to ‘simply porsche’ this weekend

we are meeting fairly early at the Starbucks at Silverstone just one roundabout past OPC Silverstone Sunday morning

let me know if you want to join us

Alan, Cayman S owner

Hi Alan,
Many thanks for the invite , I would have loved to come , but it says on the website that they are sold out , to be honest I knew nothing about the event until your email, it should be a really nice day out/ drive .
But still keen to meet up other 'local' owners for runs out over weekends, so when you and fellow owners plan a drive etc.... please do let me know , keen to meet up other enthusiasts , especially for local drives out.

Cheers ,
Jas

Hi Alan/Jas

Thanks for the invite but like Jas i hadnt heard of this event either? Happy to meet up another time though

Ok no worries, I bought my ticket for bealieu back in February but can’t remember where I saw it advertised. There are quite a few of us going who are 718 owners with a couple of 911s thrown in for good measure.

Will keep you posted for when when we have our next drive out

Hi All.

I'm hoping to organise a few weekend lunch drives but as the year is marching on it may not be till Spring. If I can get one in earlier I will post details here but there will also be an email to all the Region members. Our monthly first Monday gatherings at the Coopers Arm, Weston on Trent are well supported. It would be good to see you there.

Look forward to hearing more Laura.
OR
If anyone fancies a run out , just drop me a line, if I'm free I will be there!
Thanks
Jas

Planning on going to the Car Natter event on Sunday , thought it could be a good meet up and run out , there is a meet up in Rugby to convoy down, all on the R8 Facebook Group.
Thought worth a mention if anyone wanted to come along!
Cheers Jas

Hi Jas et al,

Also new to Porsche ownership having migrated from Alpina in March 2021.

I'm based two miles South of Leicester train station in Stoneygate/South Knighton.

Working from home, I'm always looking for an excuse to drive somewhere!

Kind regards,

Shailen

Hi Shailen,
Good to hear from you and welcome to Porsche ownership , although an Alpina isn't too 'shabby' neither!!!
I'm a year in and still loving my 911 !
We are practically neighbours as I'm in Oadby, worth keeping an eye on the FB page for events etc... these give us all a chance to meet fellow local owners, but always up for a run out , we need to get something organized!!!
Cheers Jas

Hi Jas,

Sounds like a plan - Although I'm one of the odd bods not on Facebook/WhatsApp.

I'm trying out PCGB's deal with Bicester Village this Saturday, but if anyone local is up for a weekend drive then please do DM.

Cheers,

Shailen
