Have you tried putting your reg number in to a tyre website such as black circles? They will give you the tyre sizes for your car.

Cayman S
3.4
2007

Hi, I have decided to fit the correct tyres to my Cayman , the previous owner just had standard tyres fitted which look too small for the rim.
Can anyone help with the size of tyre please ?
I have an Aero kit fitted from New 20007 as a result I have 911 Turbo Rims , I've looked to see what tyres fir these rim's , I have I believe selected the correct size but no one can tell me ( tyre services , Porsche or Pirelli ) for certain.
Can anyone advise please is 305x30x19 the correct rear tyres , and if you can confirm front too please . I don't want to spend in excess of £500 for tyres which don't fit .

any help will be appreciated .

yes it gives me the size which are currently on the car , but I have wider rims

Do I understand correctly that you believe the tyres are smaller than the wheels should be fitted with?

If you cannot be confident visually identifying the wheel type/size, you'll need to check the inside of the rim of front and back where you will find the size information.

Ken,

As Ralph suggests, the best way to check your wheel sizes is to remove the wheels - the wheel size should be embossed on one or more of the spokes.

The correct tyre sizes for the standard 19” wheels which I have on my 987.2 CS are 235/35 ZR 19 and 265/35 ZR 19.

Jeff

I have just fitted a set of Michelin PS4S to my 987.1 - 235/35/19 front and 265/35/19 rear and come back from an 800 mile Skye roadtrip.

These tyres are sublime.

Don't see any point in having anything more for the modest (by today's standards) power available.

Hi Yes, you have quoted the standard sizes which look small on my rims the tyres curve in-over :).

When I look at a 2007 Porsche 911 turbo for sale, they have the exact same "looking" rims as mine. I then check the tyres to fit these rims buy using the turbo registration number, Black circles returns 235/35R/19 and 305/30R 19.

I would love to put the 305's on LOL. but I'm looking for something that fits inside the rear arch. thanks for the responses to date

Ken ( does no one else have a cayman with Aero kit )

Our car came with non standard rims. Can you post a photo and I'll check if they are like ours. I think in the original car listing theses are Carrera wheels, so may be 911 spec.

You may have turbo style wheels, but they will (should not) not be the same width as those on a 997 turbo. Cayman rears are 10", turbo's 11.5".

Providing you have 10"rims, do not try fitting 305's on them as they will not fit correctly.

I can see what the Aero kit is, we don't have this. Our rims according to that link are Turbo II, but I'd have to look on the tyres to see which size. As for them sticking out, they do but they are v low profile. The tyres we have on are direct replacements for the ones it had when new.

The attached calculator is a good way of assessing the impact of different wheel and tyre sizes as you can play around and compare options. It is only a guide, but may give you a start on making your choices.

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1=235-35-20X8.5ET57&wheel2=235-40-19X8ET57&fcl=30mm&wcl=30mm&scl=50mm&sr=0mm

As stated above, the first step is to be clear on your current wheels so that you can input the correct data to start with. The limiting factor on the Cayman is the distance between the spring carrier/damper strut and the wheel arch rim. I would not expect a 305 section to fit

Ken,

I’d be inclined to remove a rear wheel and front wheel, not necessarily at the same time, and report back on what markings are on the rear, e.g. rim width and part number et.. Armed with that information we may be able to identify your wheels and the correct tyre sizes.

Not seen / heard of 305`s on a Cayman …
As this thread has been revived, I finally got round to looking at Andrew's attachment of approved tyres. Is this up to date? No mention of Michelins for 981's except the GT4?
