993 Front Bump Stops

I have a 993 Targa that is currently in an OPC for a couple of little things to be sorted.

They have advised that the drivers side front bump stop is damaged and whilst the shock itself is fine they have advised a cost of £1000 to replace the bump stop. They told me that it was just under 6 hours labour plus parts of over £100!!

Surely this can't be right?

Does the strut have to come off for this to be done which I would assume then means an alignment?

Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

How many times do we have to say that taking a 993 to an OPC is a very risky business. 993 Factory trained mechanics at an OPC need to be 45 years old plus if the mechanic isn't of that age they are not likely to know about 993's.
So take the car back and get a second opinion, the last one I had done cost me £104+vat at Northwsys.
