Order progress - So excited.

I placed my order 15th June 2020 with Porsche Newcastle UK for a 992 Carrera. Received a call on Friday to confirm the final spec. The order will go into lock down this week, commencing 7th September, 2020, build commences the first week of October and transported to UK for first week of November 2020 delivery.

I was told that I would receive a few emails from Porsche and I hope I can monitor the build. This is our first 911, having had a 981 and 718 from new.

Whilst discussing the spec I asked about the rumoured 10% price hike for the UK market. The dealer was unsure but thought that it was coming.

My daughter's partner bought a 981 GT4 last week (4 yrs old with 7,000 kms) and takes delivery this coming week. Quite a week for us, now to sort my daughter out......

Hi Kevan,
Congratulations on ordering your first 911, it is really exciting to spec any new car let alone a Porsche 911, although that time from confirming the final spec to delivery seems to go on for ever, especially when the Porsche Centres are so keen to relieve us of our current cars.

i am in the same position as you having also recently ordered a new car, although I am going the other way on this occasion from a 992 to a 718 with an early October build slot and proposed early November delivery date. If all goes to plan we will hopefully avoid the possible 10% increase.

i hope that you enjoy your 992 as much as we did, you are in for a treat and it will be worth the wait. They are very impressive, fast, capable and comfortable cars. What is more the members of the 992 Register are very friendly and the Register Secretary Phil Graham put on some great events for us pre Covid.

Best wishes for your new car.

Cheers Martin

I have little doubt that I shall enjoy the new car.

As I said, my daughter's partner has just bought a 981 GT4, he manages a race team in the Middle East and has some wonderful cars on tap, so the choice of a GT4 speaks volumes. My daughter is unsure as to what to go for. She currently runs an F Type soft top and is looking to change. Goodness knows what she will opt for.........

Thanks for the welcome.
