I’m delighted to announce that we are back with Drive of the Month and have Club approval for the above event, which will take place under strict Covid-secure controls.

Therefore it’s limited to 12 cars, but this would have been the maximum anyway because it’s difficult to keep a longer convoy together in Central London.

After travelling to London to watch the sunrise, so it’s a very early start, we’ll cross 11 Thames Bridges and pass by many iconic landmarks (beating much of the London traffic) before parking and enjoying a socially distanced breakfast. The schedule also allows for a takeaway coffee and comfort break.

Subject to your thoughts about personal safety, this is a trip that you will not want to miss. It will be very popular, so do not delay in registering. A reserve list will be maintained, and it may be possible to run a second drive if a volunteer leader can be found.

Please note that the Congestion Charge will apply (£15 if you pay before midnight on the day of the event). Please also confirm that your car is exempt from the Ultra Low Emissions Charge - it might not be if it is an older model.

The route, facilities and meeting / ending points have been fully checked out and COVID risk assessed, and it’s on that basis that the Club has given its approval. Starting locations, route, and all other details will be provided shortly before the day of the event, only to those that have confirmed they will be attending.

We will be adopting sensible measures throughout, but nothing that is not the new normal, so participants will be required to follow my instructions to ensure their own safety and that of others.

Participating members are responsible for ensuring that they and all their passengers bring a face covering to be used in accordance with government guidelines, and that there is hand sanitiser in the car. A personal phone number must be provided to the organiser (me) for post-event tracing if necessary. Covid-secure controls over walkie talkies will be adopted.

If you wish to register, please reply on this thread and drop me an email to mark.grimwood1@btinternet.com to confirm. Please include your forename and surname and a mobile phone number. Please add the model, colour and registration number of the Porsche you will be travelling in.

Linda and I are looking forward immensely to heading this one up. See you at sunrise!!

Cheers.
Mark

Sounds Great Mark
Count myself and Lindsey in.

looking forward to enjoying some events again.

Dave??

Me too please Mark [assuming I can get my backside out of the sack at some unearthly hour!], plus maybe A. N. Other TBC.

Well done for organising this under challenging circumstances - a great opportunity to relieve 'lock-down cabin fever'.

Hi Mark
Joanne and myself would like to do this details sent , many thanks

Have fun guys - be aware though (we did a very similar trip three weeks ago) that all over that area the roads have average speed cameras and the speed limit is now 20mph .......
If anyone has any details about the Taycan test drives that PCGB have organised for some of their members I would really like to know about these (some of the TPEC crowd who are also in PCGB as I am have not only receive their PCGB invites but had their test slots confirmed). They look to be great fun - you get a half an hour test drive in a Taycan with the usual Porsche hospitality thrown in for free - the fact that I have a genuine interest in a Taycan is incidental........

Hi Mark,

Sara and I would love to come if there is still spaces? And is it still on given the latest position?

Kind regards

Neil

i did email you the other day about adding me to the list.

regards
Andy

Hi everyone,

I have been scratching my head trying to work out a way of keeping the London Bridges event running.

However, with the current rule of 6, the drive would have to take place without the interaction, fellowship and overall enjoyment that normal social events generate.

Unless extraordinary arrangements were put in place, there would be no breakfast, no coffee, and no comfort break, yet it’s at these points (yes, even at the loo stop!) that the real fun happens.

It’s sad, but I think we’ll have a much better morning out when the event can take place under more relaxed conditions, so I regretfully have to advise you that the event is postponed until better times, hopefully next Spring!!

Meanwhile, keep watching the website and the forum, and let’s hope we can get some drives on the calendar again very soon.

Best wishes
Mark
