Cayman 4 year service

Hello,

I recently bought a 2017 718 cayman back in march and it coming up for its 4 year service.
First time getting it serviced and want to get it done officially at porsche for its first major service.
Has anyone done the same and got an idea on price?
I contacted porsche perth and edinburgh for quotes and perth quoted £875 whereas ediburgh quoted £1373, this is a great difference and i wonder what I should be expecting here. I'll check Glasgow for a quote too.

Thanks for any answers.

Hi Neil,

You've touched on a subject which crops up here and on other forums quite regularly. Although many of the Porsche Centres operate a fixed-price service system, as you've found out it's not universal, with some Centres quoting significantly more than others for the same task depending upon the main holding group. I think you've done the right thing in getting comparative quotes from Perth and Edinburgh, and it will be useful to see what Glasgow quote. If you have a preferred location you can then go back to that Centre to try to negotiate a more favourable price if theirs is higher.

Since it's a 4-year service, just make sure that they're like-for-like quotes which probably should include a spark plug change and drive belt check. Refer to your 718 Guarantee and Maintenance booklet for all the appropriate procedures.

Hi, I went through the same exercise with my GT3, Glasgow took 2 weeks to quote & were considerably more expensive. Glasgow also suggested to keep the service book up to date I should get the car serviced again within a couple of months to keep the stamps right? Typical of this type of car its very low mileage for its age 10,000 miles in 5 years, an additional service would have meant the car would have had 2500 mile service intervals.....a tad extreme.

Perth is very helpful, especially the service manager Nicola. As a newish dealership they are keen to win new customers, I have always been well looked after.

Cheers

Steve

Glasgow quoted 1090

Yes Nicola at perth responded to my email query right away with a full breakdown of the quote, I was impressed compared to the other two in that regard.
Going to book with Perth.
Do porsche club members get any discount on servicing?

Cheers

Perth is owned by Vardy group. Edinburgh & Glasgow Sytner group. prices will vary just make sure you get like for like ,think the 4 year service is standard but you have to factor in spark plugs ,brake fluid ,belt change ,and possibly air con check .so make sure you get item for item priced up , always managed to get below the fixed price menu ,you have to negotiate with the service guys and manager.
in answer to your last post you should get 10% Parts as said negotiate a deal for yourself

Porsche used to publish fixed prices for servicing under the banner 'Total Transparency' but it looks like they have withdrawn from this and can now charge what they wish.

Google this and you'll find the previously published prices for the 718. I've attached a copy. Previously they quoted £875 for this service

You may well be set on using an OPC (and I do) but for comparison I'd recommend getting a quote from an Indy. I use David Phillips as do many other Club members and I'd recommend him. I had a quote for my 987 of £576

Two more comments: OPC Edinburgh have an 'Exclusive Customer' offering that gives 10% of parts AND labour, half price MOTs, discounted 111 point checks etc

Lastly I had a big goodwill claim with Audi as I had serviced the car with them throughout it's life so that may sway you back to the OPC

Did you receive a breakdown from the other OPC`s ? … other than Perth those prices are shocking. The oil change on the 718 takes a little longer but there`s two less spark plugs.

If the Fixed Price System is still `in use` then you`d not get a discount, was my experience last November (981CS 6 year service). Aberdeen OPC who were not in the FPS matched Perth who were, I saved £300 ... but I had to ask as they are not allowed to offer it.

This is all good info, thanks for the replies.
Yes the perth price is the fixed price service cost, I didnt get detailed breakdowns from the other OPC as it was over the phone. I should have explicitly asked for that, but its a shame they didnt just follow up with getting my email and offering to send it through.

Hi Guys.,
I have a 60k service coming up for my Cayman S @ Perth for 775 ., is this a fair price? What are the other alternatives? ( other than the official ones) , I am a bit new to the forum :) Please advise ?

Ben

Ben,

See the above comments, but I think that price could be just for the oil and filter change and you'll need to factor-in a plug change, belt check and brake fluid change, so check with Perth first.

Jeff

That is the standard Fixed Price and what I paid for my 981CS last November … it is £300 less than other Porsche dealers that do not operate the Fixed Price system … see attached.

Includes all parts / fluids … except the tyre sealant I believe.

Thanks !.. I did get a breakdown of the quote from Nicola ., It includes SEALING RING s TOPUP/BAG AIR FILTER AIR SUCTION WINDOW CLEANER OUTER ENGINE OIL Odour and allergen filter AIR-FILTER INSERT V-belt 1 Litre Brake fluid and Oil filter insert.

Ben

Oops! I confused the 60k with the 40k which requires the plug change, so that sounds like a fair price for a 60k service, including a brake fluid change. The first recommended air filter change too!
