Largest Cayman R meet in the world!

I'm looking to organise a meeting of exclusively Cayman R's and would love to get as many as possible to attend.
Having chatted to a couple of other R owners, I'm thinking of trying to arrange something for next Spring at The Porsche Experience centre Silverstone to coincide with the 10 year anniversary of the Cayman R. This also provides time to really organise something a bit special.
Maybe see if we can get some support or interaction with Porsche UK and maybe even get some European R's to come over. imagine 50 to 100 Cayman R's ??????.
It's only day 1 and already have around 10 people interested so lets see if we can get some proper numbers before I contact Porsche but I would like to do this properly and make it a real event.

So if this is of interest to you, please let me know, either on here or email peterjanderson@btinternet.com

Thank you

Peter

Ok, we have 33 now so I will approach Porsche GB to see if they have any interest in getting involved in some way, even just the venue and refreshments would be brilliant, but let's see what they say?

Cayman R and 987 Spyder anniversary meet.

OK, so I have spoken to Ciro at the Sharnbrook Hotel and it sounds absolutely perfect, the venue has lots of room for the cars, catering facilities, stewards all set up and are very experienced in putting on car events. It's also very central in location.

Ciro is going to email me further details but i understand that we would just need to turn up and display the cars and the actual organisation of the event in terms of marshal's, food and drinks etc on the day would be run by them.

They have plenty of room for other cars to attend and be parked in different areas to the Cayman R's and 987 Spyder's so other Porsche owners and enthusiasts could attend as well if they wish.

There would be a small entry fee we would need to pay which would also include a meal choice and drinks.

He suggested that this could be choice of a 2 course sit down meal inside or a pizza and drink package. If the Covid-19 situation changes this could be a buffet or BBQ instead, but who knows what the Covid-19 situation will be next May.

the prices he was talking about were in the region of £15-20 per car or £25-30 for a car with two people.

As this includes lunch and refreshments i think this sounds entirely reasonable.

The date that is free would be Sunday 9th May 2021 and the hotel has rooms available on the Saturday 8th if people wanted to stay the night before.

I think this sounds like a perfect venue and thank you Cliff for the suggestion.

Ciro is going to email me some further details but i just want to confirm the above sounds OK with you guys on the OC as without you it cant be a success.

Just to clarify, any ticket, food etc money or profits made will be kept by the venue, I am organising this strictly for the experience, though i might suggest to Ciro that a couple of quid be added to the ticket to give to charity so the day also helps a good cause.

Quick update to the above, Date is confirmed as Sunday 9th May 2021 at the Sharnbrook Hotel and the itinerary for the day will be something as follows.

[link]https://www.thesharnbrookhotel.com/[/url]

Separate parking for Cayman R's and Spyder’s away from any other cars or spectator cars, the day would be an initial meet and greet, some photos, look at all the cars, meet everyone and have a chat and catch up for a couple of hours or so, some food at lunch to be something very casual and outdoor, so either a Pizza, burger type thing or a BBQ - no sit-down meal. We will then finish with a drive out on a pre-planned route as a group to a finishing destination for some final photos and a goodbye before all going home.

Taking some peoples comments into account my feeling would be to make the food offer something very casual and outdoor, so either a Pizza, burger type thing or a BBQ. No sit down meal.

A small entry ticket fee to cover the venues expenses and make it worth their while to get involved to me seems fair, especially as it includes your food and drink. Otherwise we end up just meeting in a car park on an industrial estate or getting Porsche Club GB involved who likely will completely take over.

I will update further with details on tickets and hotel discount codes if you wanted to stay the night before.

Thanks

Peter
