Nearside Dipped Beam not working

Good Afternoon ,
I have recently purchased some new headlight bulbs , both dipped and main.
I decided to fit the dipped beams first and found that the left /near side light was not working anyway.
So quite timely I thought. So I fitted the new dipped beam bulbs but only the right /offside was
working. Could it be the fuse so I changed the fuse no 22, still only the right lamp was working.
Any body got any further ideas other than diagnostics?
Cheers

Mike

This is unlikely to be the cause as you started with a failed dipped beam - but I found one of my headlights fails to connect well with the multi-pin electrical connector. To avoid the problem I've now removed the holder of the socket (the end in the wing) and I manually plug it in to the back of the headlight. This is not easy because there is not much loom but if you put the headlight in enough to leave a gap just large enough for your hand you can push your hand in, grab the connector, plug it in and just wriggle your hand back out. This gives a much firmer connection. Maybe yours is similar.

I'd use a multi-meter to check for voltage on the pins on the multi-way connector. I'd also check other fuses because I've found the chart in the top of the fuse box doesn't quite tell the truth (although the problem I found was not with headlights)

Hi Mark, Thanks for your response I'll try the slim hand solution next. Its fortunate we have the virus thing at the moment as I am not using the car at night so
no need for lights!

I have spoken about this issue with my friend Chris Best at Two plus Two in Brierley Hill.(West Midlands) He told me that the heat generated by the bulbs can distort the housing. Porsche know all about this and have created a repair kit. Part Number 000 043 204 28, Description Repair kit, with 1 spring clip and 1 retaining bracket. Will install when the weather improves.
