Potential R3 Volunteers Zoom Meeting - 29 July 7pm

At July's monthly regional Zoom meeting I proposed some ideas about how Jacquie and I might be able to undertake the role of ROs, recognizing that we alone could not hope to match the remarkable work that Greg and Deb have done over the past 5 years. As mentioned we would like to explore the possibility of running the region with a committee structure, ensuring we all continue to enjoy club life. Many members already volunteer with events, such as helping at the regional show, and members have expressed an interest in volunteering more, for example helping plan and co-ordinate club events. We are therefore holding a Zoom meeting for all R3 members interested in volunteering to help run the region and our events, exploring how a committee might operate and what this might mean in terms of commitment should you wish to volunteer. No decisions have been made on how the region will run in the future, this is your opportunity to help shape that future. The Zoom meeting details are as follows:

Topic: Potential R3 Volunteers

Time: Jul 29, 2020 07:00 PM London

Join Zoom Meeting: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/73442017109?pwd=T2JuSXNVMHhtS2ZBTnNtVU1EaFAzZz09

Meeting ID: 734 4201 7109

Passcode: 7rJRpp

An email is also being sent with these details.

Please note that we will record this meeting so that we may share it with other members who are interested in volunteering but are not available on 29th July.

We look forward to seeing you on 29th July - Philip and Jacquie.

I'll not be able to attend but I am interested to volunteer, I think I have made my thoughts clear in past meetings on the level of commitment I could give, in person or over zoom. Feel free to PM me or call for a chat about it if it helps.

Thank you both for taking the lead, it is really appreciated. I very much support the solution that you are suggesting.

Chris

For those interested in volunteering and our discussion on Wednesday night I have created a short presentation which I plan to walk through on the call... no pre-read necessary!

Look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday night - Philip

Thanks to all who attended the Zoom meeting last Wednesday and for your input, I am sorry that Zoom have now started to enforce their 40min limit and the disruption that caused (and for this long post)! For those that missed the meeting we have recorded it, though due to Zoom cutting out we don't have all the questions session. The file format cannot be uploaded to the forum, but is available by emailing r3@porscheclubgb.com (though please be patient as Greg and Deb are away and we don't have access to the mail box yet... we will get it to you ASAP). There is also a file attached further up this thread from us explaining our proposal.

Following the meeting we have been encouraged by both your expressions of interest and offers of support - thank you. As a quick summary we agreed during the meeting that we would continue to offer, and support, all forms of volunteering (adhoc [i.e. adhoc drive outs], informal [i.e. events team] and formal [i.e. Organizing Committee]). We know that members enjoy volunteering in a way that they have time for, the region could not operate effectively without all forms of support, and we know this is greatly appreciated by all. We also agreed that we would run the region through a formal Organizing Committee with with the ROs being accountable for upholding the Clubs values (and rules) and will act as Committee Chairperson(s). The actual structure and operating parameters for the organizing committee will be developed and agreed by the Organizing Committee Members once the committee starts to meet. We were fortunate to have Phil Graham attend the meeting and were able to "test" that our ideas and proposals were agreeable to the club, and had a follow up call to confirm.

If you have not expressed an interest in the Organizing Committee and wish to do so, please email r3@porscheclubgb.com, before the August club meeting. We will of course continue to encourage and support all volunteering activities going forward. We will confirm with all those who expressed an interest already via email shortly (and before the August club night).

Thanks for your support and suggestions - Philip & Jacquie
