CANCEL MESSAGES AFTER FITTING NEW TYRE

Ran over road debris, message announced problem and TPM showed tyre deflating rapidly.

Tyre replaced and TPM reading correctly but message still showing with corresponding warning lights on dash.

Does anyone know how to cancel the message or does it mean an expensive trip to OPC?

Any help gratefully received.

Morning Mike,

All being well the system should self-set after driving a few miles, so a couple of things to check:-
Is there another damaged tyre that's been deflating at a slower rate?
is the new tyre set at the correct pressure in relation to the others?

Once the TPM is in its operating mode and with the car stationary, take a look at the differential pressures between each side and font to rear to discover any discrepancy.

I know you're some distance from a PC, so the only other thing I can suggest is disconnecting the battery and allowing the system to reset. This might set off the alarm in which case, try turning the ignition on before doing so.

BTW - the TPM is only advisory and doesn't replace a decent pressure gauge. Also, Porsche say a difference of more than 3mm tyre wear on the same axle is not recommended. Actually, when I had my 997 TTS, I found even 1½ mm difference made the car's handling unpredictable and ended up having to buy a second new tyre. [;)]

Hi Clive

Thanks for your swift reply

Have only driven about 20 miles since new tyre fitted but the warning lights are irritating! Perhaps they will reset after more mileage.

All tyres checked with proper gauge and no discrepancies. Regrettably this was a nearly new tyre as they were all replaced a couple of thousand miles ago so wear neglible (no track days yet this year!)

I noticed a "reset" option under settings which mentions new owner but I assume that resets all my preferences to factory settings. I am loath to do this as it has taken me a long time to set everything up over the years. I have a similar concern about disconnecting the battery.

I will soldier on for a few more miles to see if the message cancels but it does seem that there should be some way of cancelling spent messages.

btw I must be lucky because my TPM is really accurate according to my gauge and is really useful on the track for monitoring tyres.

Cheers
Michael

You might also change the setting to Winter tyres, drive a few miles, change back to Summer and drive. Worked on a 718 Cayman.

Thanks so much ralphmusic, your suggestion worked spot on, really grateful for your help.

Cheers

That’s a good suggestion my TPM has been playing up for a few weeks -showing warning but after repeated checks no loss of pressure -I’ll try that as it may save a trip to OPC
