Hi
I've just recently rejoined the club this time i hope to buy the 911 I've always promised myself,
A 3.2 carrera or an SC. I've read lots of reviews in the past which put me off a little mainly the
rot issues, I don't mind a few scratches or dings but a solid body is essential, It be appreciated
if anyone can offer any advice or even have one to sell.
Cheers John

If you want a good one with rebuilt engine and solid body no welding and new white leather seatsgive contact me
She is quite famous being on the front cover of Porsche Post and is very well known

Hello Mark, oops John, There is so much to say about 3.2s when looking to buy, it sounds like you have done your homework for that. Over the last few weeks I've seen a few 3.2 for sale. There is Paul's of course, above, plus a couple the owners have emailed me about: a Red Coupe, very original 76k miles RHD (let me know if you are interested and I'll get the owner to contact you), and a White Coupe that had previously been sold by a reputable independent and now on our Club sales site: https://www.porscheclubgb.com/car-sales/sell-a-porsche/sellers/3d9f2a56-ebd5-439a-84c5-a5b7cc2f8bbd/911-carrera-3-2-0
The one piece of advice I will always give is that once you have the car you want to purchase, have a Pre Purchase Inspection carried out. A good one will tell you how good the car is and what you may need to budget for in the future. Well worth the £3-400 outlay as it could save you a lot of money in the long run. There was a recent thread here https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1058272 - take a look online for those specialising in older Porsche with good reviews, or search this Forum for further advice. Good luck with finding your car. Steve
Edited for correction to name, sorry John.

Just heard of another 3.2 becoming available soon. A white cabriolet with blue interior.

Hello John, I've been contacted by Paul to ask me to pass on his contact details here as he cannot get through to you on the number above. Please contact him on 07813143674. Steve

Hi John,
Unfortunately even though the later IB's had galvanised shell they do succumb to rust issues. These cars do not have wheel arch liners which mean that damp dirt gets trapped in the far corners and slowly erosion takes hold. There have been aftermarket sets made as I have them fitted to mine for protection as I use it a lot!

Unless they have been low mileage garages queens (that in itself have other issues) and which you will pay a large premium for, many IB’s will have had the rust issues attend too. You have to remember these cars are 30 plus years old.
I would look at the overall provenance of the car, a detailed check of both mechanic and body documentation and for 100% piece of mind have it inspected.

There’s a rot boxes out there so be weary, but occasional good ones come to market. You’ll need to be patient and keep an eye on the all the specialist classifieds and forums.
