Dim LED on 718 Key

Richard,

I tempted to say, if you don't know who will?

However, my Cayman key only appears to be dimly lit in ambient light; in a dark room it is not lit.

Well I've read the manual, and Googled it, and I can't find an answer. I have just noticed that there is a red LED on the key, which glows very dimly all the time. It isn't the one in the centre that flashes brightly when you press the key buttons. I changed the battery (even though I wasn't getting a warning in the MF display) but it made no difference. Anyone else have/had this?

Hmmmm. Yes, looking again, it does seem to be brighter in daylight. How odd. If that's all it does, I can't see any point in it whatsoever.

Perhaps it is a warning that you haven't been driving your Porsche in a 'sporty' manner [:)]

Richard,

Maybe it's just an indication that the battery voltage is OK? In which case you'll have a long wait to find out if it's failing.!

Jeff

I suppose it is just my curiosity getting the better of me. I'm just surprised that: a) there is nothing about it in the owner's manual and b) nobody seems to have brought it up before. I'll check out Nick's suggestion and give it the beans next time I'm out in it.

This bit should be a sticky on the forum. I reckon it sorts most issues [:D]
