Mini-Meet trial

Well, we tried a mini-meet yesterday. Four cars, five people starting in Middleton in Teesdale late afternoon. The format worked well, but unfortunately, the rain met us there as well, coming from the north east, to combine with the really strong winds. Perfect! As the sensible people we are, the decision was made to take the bad weather head on and go up Teesdale to Alston. A great road in any event, but streaming wet, wind, rain, flashes of sunshine and no other cars* it was a challenging drive at a perfectly respectable pace. We, and the rain, stopped in Alston for a self brewed cuppa and then headed east along some more 'interesting' roads, finally finishing and going our own way home from Stanhope.

Thanks to Gordon for the local knowledge, Simon for the tea making and Gary for the home made biscuits and for making the meet, having already done a tour of Northumberland earlier in the day! Me, I was just along for the ride.
*there was one other car on the road to Alston, two guys in a Hyundai Ni30 who led us at a good pace over the last few miles. We met up at our tea stop and had a good chat.

I really enjoyed it John...as I’ve said elsewhere fantastic roads, that I didn’t realise existed! The weather just made them more ‘challenging’...although was disappointed to have washed the car the day before and get all the way to the meeting point wearing sunglasses and for the heavens to open as I pulled into the car park LOL

I was actually quite mesmerised being in a group of only Cayman‘s and catching some of the great design and engineering that you don’t spot sat in your own car on the cars in front of me.

Sounds good and will teach me a lesson to check on these pages more frequently as I would have been up for that.

I’m not particularly technically minded, what’s the best way to keep up to date please?
