Boxster 718 Coolant Cap Stuck

Just had my 718S 4 year service at Dorset Sports Cars. The Coolant reservoir cap was stuck on. Google proved this to be a known problem. If overtightened it gets stuck. Then it breaks when you apply tools to remove. They didn't push it and so they have ordered the new cap assuming it may break. I guess the lesson is do not over tighten. Porsche have changed the design so if you are replacing get the Part No ending in E. Its 982121155E.
$29 in the US apparently. (So £200 here probably)!
Incidentally "Dorset Sports Cars" very nice. Lisa in reception very helpful. Boss knows his cars! First time using them. Never got a price from Porsche Bournemouth and gave up.

Had similar with the 981 Cayman S although I`m sure it was not overtightened … when coming to the end of the thread there is a slight `detent - restriction` just after which the cap `clicks - sits` fully closed.

It was replaced under (extended) warranty.

There was a modification to the coolant tank filler neck for MY2018 718s, so if yours is 2017 or earlier then you probably need to get the filler neck changed as well. Porsche issued a technical bulletin on this subject. If you would like a copy, send me a PM with your email address and I'll attach it to a reply.
