RPM and Reference Sensor Bracket

Hi All
Just a small story this time ! This involves our old acillies heel sensors !

A car I have had the previlage to work on (No body knew and didn't want to know) had a no start issue which I correctly diagnosed as a faulty Ref sensor . I recommended 2 and outlined the pitfalls before leaving the lads to get sensors and fit !

Well the bracket got broken in the ensuing removal and a new one got - the replacement sensors got fitted without setting and the ref sensor got clipped !

So another sensor got and set up properly this time ! Everyone confident and key turned only to clip the sensor again
I then come on a scene of 2 clipped sensors a broken bracket and forlorn looks !

I took a look and I'm no expert but to me the bracket was fully extended and couldn't go any more ! I figured that 1 because the sensors were getting clipped that the bracket was bent from the first start 2 the sensor needed a washer to space it

So I found a lovely 0.8mm copper washer and put it under the sensor as a test ! Turned the key and up she went

This isn't as designed and ECP haven't sold a Bosch sensor like them for 20 years only to sell 4 in the last month to the same customer ! Sommit just dosen t tally and although the car is going I'm not that enthusiastic !

So Did I miss sommit obvious given my limited experience ? Has the bracket got damaged ?

Thanks a million in Advance

944 101 335 00 @ £4.26, if its lost you can buy a new one, or is the trigger screw falling out the flywheel

the manual say gap them at .8mm, so a penny works quite well, stick it on the end, insert the sensor, mark it, pull it out, take the penny off and reinsert to the mark, easy!

Well now ! That is the answer Waylander and Eldeavo ! The figure 8 spacer is missing alright and that is the lightbulb moment !

It had to be sommit like that ! I hate going in after somebody else !

A lesson learnt ! Thanks a mill you 2 ! Saved the day again !

Don‘t we all! :ROFLMAO:

I had a hunch that it would be that easily forgotten washer. Been there, done that, binned the evidence [8|]

I bought genuine Bosch sensors from a Bosch dealer around £49 each, BMW part but exactly the same apart from the lead is around 50 mm longer.
Porsche wanted £197 each !
