pcm code

New member
Hi all
purchased a 996 c4 convertible around 8 months ago with minimal history. Pcm has never worked and I did not have the code even if it did. Picked up the codes for radio and nav this weekend from porsche Silverstone and had the pcm repaired today. unfortunately the code does not match the pcm, so possibly a replacement was carried out previously. Could anyone suggest another way of obtaining the codes from the serial number on the unit.

Hi Keiran Sorry I cannot help, but I’m sure as soon as Richard sees you query he will be able to advise you.
Good luck

If the unit has been changed, I don't think you stand much chance. Because you say 'Radio and Nav' codes, I assume you have PCM1. There are places that decode them, but it really isn't worth the effort or expense:

PCM1 is now 23 years old. It needs a full size SIM card, which will only work on old GSM networks. The navigation is dire, and you can only use maps that are about 10 years out of date. The FM radio is OK, but who has any casettes they can play? If I were you, I would fit a decent 2-DIN system with all mod cons, which you can buy for not much more than the decoding would cost. Just my 2p's worth.

Thank you Richard. Appreciate your advice and I think I will take it. Where do I send the 2p to.[:)]
