Battery fitting on 1984 3.2 Carrera Targa

I wonder if someone can give me a bit of advice please.

My 1984 3.2 Targa’s Yuasa YBX5096 battery went flat, and I bought a Bosch type 110 S4010 to replace it with. But the Yuasa was 278mm long vs the Bosch 315mm. I didn’t spot this until fitting it.

So the new battery sits over the drilled and tapped screw hole for the battery clamp. There’s another screw hole nearer the front of the car but that’s too far forwards. How do I clamp the new battery in?

Thanks.
Mark

Firstly I’d check to ensure your replacement battery has the correct specification as normally like for like are roughly the same size, unless you go for a lightweight which is much smaller.
if it is then you have two options, fabricate or purchase a bracket that will allow you to utilise the existing securing holes.
Alternatively assuming you have not used the battery, exchange it for one that fits.

Thanks for the prompt reply Beaky. The battery seems to be the right spec so I’ll check on the bracket options.

Good point, but the second drill hole allows for an even bigger one! I’m checking with my local Porsche specialist garage. Thanks for the input.
