I’m havng a few problems......and losing a bit of faith

ive deffo got the slow crank so I’ll be booking it in when I can for that

but having been out yesterday I thought I’d use it to go to makro put the key in the ignition turned the key.....all lights went out the lot, all dash lights all of everything can’t be a flat battery but I can’t get the frunk open now to check anything and even the key won’t come out the ignition

I’m going nuts...totally nuts

Well, you deffo have a flat battery and/or duff electrics. []

You'll need the use of a good battery and some jump leads. Presumably you have the handbook and this will tell you how connect it up via the fuse box, which should then allow you to open the boot (there's a mechanical way of doing this also).

With the power restored, you should now be able to remove the ignition key too [;)] If not, then there is a mechanical way of doing this as well and it is in the handbook under Emergency Ignition Key Removal, as I recall.

Once you have regained full access, you will need to resolve the electrical fault. Suspect a defective battery in the first instance and have it tested. If it's not that then you will next need to check out the charging system.

Clive

Thanks Clive

yeah I’ve got all the handbooks upstairs, it’s a real pain it died a few weeks ago and I took it in they tested the battery and said all good so I think I’ll get it into a garage rather than try Anything myself I’m ok with a spanner but electrics are a bit beyond me. It’s definitely got a slow crank over so I’m assuming the cable from front too back needs doing

Not sure if applies to your model but I'm sure I have read somewhere on here before about the earth lead causing problems!

The symptoms you have are almost certainly related to the main cable running from the battery to the rear of the car. I had the same issues on my 997 which the Porsche Centre initially diagnosed as the battery and then potentially a rear control unit but it was the main electrical cable. Fortunately it was under warranty so there was no cost apart from a new battery which I probably did not need.

Good news, hopefully you're a little happier now. [:)]
How was the problem solved?
It will be helpful to know for future reference.
Regards,

Clive

Hi Clive

after using tweets in the little slot on the ignition the key released manually and Popped straight out

so basically I pulled the red jumper out of the fuse box and connected jump leads too that with the negative on the door hinge and connected to the wife’s vw battery then the frunk opened up

disconnected the battery and left for 30 seconds reconnected and it started

just a little update after booking in with autowerke in Norwich the car is now fixed and running fine

it was the power cable from the positive on the battery to the distributor

also for note the cable and fixing have been revised by Porsche not cheap £210 for cable £140 for revised fixing kit

but all good now so happy days
