Does anyone have any Cup 1, 2 or 3 alloys and tyres surplus to requirements?

I’m picking a 968 next week and it has 16” Boxster wheels currently...

Thanks

Once you're accepted on 968uk ask on there, there's a few folk who have extra sets of wheels (danstabl being one!)

No idea Dan, last set I bought (probably Cup 1 16's) was about 8 years ago, needed full refurb which IIRC cost me about £350, but I only paid what the vendor was asking - £150! You can, I believe, buy a new set from alloywheelsdirect.net for something like £2500, so somewhere between those 2 figures!

Hi Chris, what's the going rate for a bare set of Cup 2's in need of a light refurb?

Guess you know already anyway but do make sure any Cups are the right offsets for the 968. My setup as below;

Original Wheels (CS Cup 2 - 1994): Front - 7½J x 17" | wheel offset 65 | tyres - 225/45 ZR 17 (Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 | Manuf: 1817) Rear - 9J x 17" | wheel offset 55 | tyres - 255/40 ZR 17 (Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 | Manuf: 2417) Had my originals refurb'd in anthracite - love 'em Hope this helps

Less clearance on the inside then I believe. Check for any later rubbing or add spacers. Personally I learnt my lesson from driving with incorrect offsets on the front (used a spare set of 964's I had lying around) - it was dreadful steering but didn't appreciate it at the time as that being the root cause. Got told off too! Reminded that the Porsche wheels are specifically dimensioned to the front strut and arm design of that model, anything different upsets the specific geometry as designed for max performance. When I went back to correct offsets my tramlining went away and the steering input required less force.

Yes, I believe it has spacers. Was set up like this for the track by a previous owner. The steering is a little heavier than I would expect and it actually understeers more than I would expect....which seems a bit counter intuitve.

17" 968 wheels, for the front, are 7.5" et 65 (standard Cup I's and II's) or the 968 winter rear wheel 8" et 52 can be used on the front (porsche nowadays list that as a 'new' fit front wheel too).

If you run 8" et 70, which is a 993 winter rear wheel, then you'd need spacers to bring the tracking to something like and also to swap the studs for longer ones (or have bolted spacers). You could use standard Porches rear spacers - 17mm with the longer studs, which would give et53.

Genuine Porsche wheels shold have the offset and rim width cast each side of the valve hole, there's a lot of reps about - usually et 52, 47 if meant for a 968.

Once you've joined 968uk message me (andys) and we'll see if i've got what you're after, or to make up a set.

Hi Archemist.....I’ve been trying to register on the 968UK forum but I haven’t been success as yet. I followed the procedure and completed the contact us form too. I had the original email back nothing after that.

Any suggestions on how I can get that fixed?

thanks
