May 13th Virtual Club Night 7pm

Well, ladies and gentlemen, how was it for you? I am interested in any feedback or comments regarding our Bank Holiday Monday Zoom meeting. Personally, I think it wasn’t a bad first effort and would like to thank those who took the time to join in and were at the very least willing to give it a go, in an attempt to relieve the boredom and catch up.

Hopefully, the etiquette wasn’t too difficult to workout once you had dropped in, although it seemed to me for those who was experiencing Zoom for the very first time, did seem to pick it up fairly easily and everyone respectfully got the hang of muting their microphones in between chat to avoid clashing with other members, so well done everybody, great effort.

One thing that is evident though is the requirement of a half decent microphone as one or two of our members were a little difficult to hear or understand, I am reliably informed a relatively cheap set of headphones with a built in microphone is a good answer to this problem, but none the less to save the expense, we did seem to manage quite easily to work around this, by private messaging when needed through the zoom link.

With this mind, I propose we schedule our next virtual meeting, if everyone is in agreement, on our usual Club night May 13th at the slightly earlier time of 7pm for a Club Night. Hopefully this will allow even more members to join in, and who knows, we may even have a little more Porsche related items to chat about, as we slowly begin to come out of lock down in the future, fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, for those who were a little tentative to try to join in, have a look at Zoom, find your way around & have a look at the controls and settings. If a technophobe like me can manage there's hope for us all!

I’ve literally just commented on the original thread Greg. I think it worked great and thanks to you & Deb for organising and everyone who turned up...i thought we may struggle to fill 20 mins but almost 2 hours later we were still going.

I know you tried to get a common theme to talk about with the quiz... what about setting some home work before the next one... Maybe a Porsche or Motorsport related movie? The Endurance one recently pushed by the club was a good watch, i know that F1 are also putting one classic races out on YouTube...pick one then maybe we could then discuss like a book club?

Thanks for the effort of putting this together , just wish I had a webcam and microphone so I could join in the conversation

# luddite !

Yes I enjoyed the banter Greg, another proactive initiative by you and Deb, well done.

Mind you, I didn't know Kenny could speak French....at least I think that's the language he was using...[:-]

A monthly log-in would be something to look forward to, and even if those who join in only listen, it's something to break up the boredom of Lockdown, which I'm getting very tired of already.

We really enjoyed this and seeing everyone. We agree it worked very well, and thanks to you both for organising it. We think it is an excellent idea to have another one on May Club night.

Really enjoyed the virtual meeting last night and thought it went well, accessed through I-Pad last night but will try the laptop for the next meeting.

Thanks to Greg and Deb for organising and to all those who took part for the banter (will have to have more lager or wine to hand for the next meeting).

Stay Safe

Should we be be receiving a new "Mail Chimp" invite for tonight's on line meeting?

If not can somebody remind me on the of the link to the meeting.

Thanks in advance

Just to avoid confusion, you should all receive your Club night reminder email today for our R3 virtual Club night, tonight with a Zoom link.

We are planning to host a short quiz during the meeting, so some of you may want to do a little homework today depending on how competitive you are. No prizes just house honours and a bit of fun.

Join online from 7.30pm, quiz starts at 8.00pm.

Look forward to seeing lots of you via Zoom again tonight.

Greg.
