Fantasy Macan GTS (Daydreaming!)

Just been whiling away hours of the lockdown on the Porsche configurator. Picking the way through the myriad of options is never easy. They roughly fall under 3 main headings, "Essential", "Preferable", "Plain daft", but here's my take on a sensible and workable specification.... but what do you think?

N5                            Night Blue Metallic                                                                     £674.00

G1D                         Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)                                                    £0.00
0M2                         75 litre fuel tank                                                                         £84.00
8LH                          Sport Chrono Package including mode switch                                £804.00
41L                          20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels painted in satin black                 £0.00
1G1                         18-Inch collapsible spare wheel                                                    £161.00
VW1                         Privacy glass                                                                              £333.00
4L6                          Auto dimming mirrors                                                                 £252.00
7X8                          ParkAssist (front and rear) including reversing camera                   £362.00
QR9                         Speed limit indicator                                                                    £252.00

VC1                          HomeLink® (garage door opener)                                                £203.00
Q1J                          Adaptive 18 way sports seats                                                       £1,263.00

So £66K in total +OR charges.

Off to do some window cleaning now  but I may try my hand at a Turbo S next!

Never specced a Macan but looks pretty impressive to me.  Not sure about the lane change assist though.  Order now for delivery in........?

Just finished mowing the (what passes for) lawn.  We should all have the best looking gardens for years after this all ends.

I was contemplating (while mowing) this "non-essential" journey malarkey and what view the insurance companies/police would take if (heaven forbid) you have an accident?  How long before the first insurer comes out with some get out clause?  I think it might be best to keep some shopping bags in the Porsche if you take it out for a tootle round.  Not that I will be doing any of that kind of thing - just saying for discussion purposes.

I'm speeding because I have to get there before I forget where I'm going.

Yes, "Lane Change Assist" is slightly misnamed IMHO.

What it does is warn you of upcoming traffic in adjoining lanes. There's a short video on the configurator to demonstrate it. Can't say I've ever spec'd it myself, although I have driven other Porsche models with it fitted.

I must admit to having been caught out a time or two on the motorway, when perhaps my concentration was not 100%, because the Macan does have a bit of a blind spot around the 'B' pillar.

Not sure if anyone knows whether or not it's illegal yet just to go for drive, but a bagful of groceries might get you off the hook, provided you're not asked to show a receipt!
    Happy Days,

Agreed, it's got to be racing yellow. Although Ralph's pink does look rather special.

    Show us the interior Clive..

    I came up with this..

    http://www.porsche-code.com/PLB3T9X5

Carmine Red, lots of contrasting silvery external bits (pity about the black grill) and light interior. Lots of other stuff to add still..

Next up is how much can we spend on a Panamera Sport Turismo?

    Clive / Alan / Ralph,

I fully realise I am not an R15-er and have never met any of you face to face but just thought I would send a word of thanks for your as ever lively posts on the Forum. In these troubled times I for one have found them a welcome distraction and an illustration of how important a resource the Forum is to the PCGB community.

Ralph's Carmine Red Macan Turbo gets my vote by the way..

    Keep up the good work!

    Hi Keith,

Thanks for the kind words. No problem not being in R15 - we are a club and all in this together!
I bang on interminably about what a valuable resource this Forum is. My hope is more officials will eventually come to realise it.

Now back on topic. Ralph's spec is indeed stunning, but a couple of points here as follows:-
Firstly - the colour red should be restricted to sport cars only - by law!
Secondly - I just don't get seriously high performance SUV's. What on earth's the point? They're neither fish nor fowl IMHO.

Buy a 911 for sheer pleasure of driving or a Macan for taking the dog out and shopping (once shelves are restocked).  Don't try to mix the two - it just doesn't work.
    Regards,

    Clive

Yes, you wouldn't get far on "Just a minute"!
On the RO video conference last night there was a general discussion about keeping in touch through these difficult times.  Seems I had to remind (most) of the ROs attending about the forum....

I agree whole heartedly that only sports cars can be red!

So your fantasy Macan GTS didn't include your favoured PASM Clive!
I am aware of course that it is now only available together with air suspension on GTS  and Turbo models, whereas it's available with or without air on the base Macan or Macan S.
Make of that what you will but my Mamba Green  with Agate grey interior with PASM is still my current favourite!
I've yet to test drive one of the top two models to see what difference the air makes.
    Keep well all!

    Hi Mike,

    Welcome to R15!

I guess your ears must have been burning with all this talk of fragrant Macan colours.

No need to specify PASM with steel suspension setup on GTS - it comes as standard!

BTW - Here's a view of the cabin I spec'd - but a bit conflicted between Silver Aluminium and Piano Black trim!
Black brushed alloy would be a compromise, I suppose.

I'll put the cabin I would really want in the following next post, but I think it's going to be a little too dark for a night blue exterior.

    Regards,

    Clive
