Checking Oil Level

Member
Sorry all for this question...I’ve had 3 996s and have never had an issue with measuring oil levels, all 3.6

This is my first 3.4 and I’m having trouble getting an exact oil level. The dash indicator and the dipstick don’t seem to match.

I’ve tried hot and cold measurements but can someone advise what’s is the most accurate way of measuring the level on the 3.4?

is it the cold or hot level on the dipstick? I trust the manual approach better

thanks

I always found the electronic display sensitive to the level of the car. I found it best to check it parked in my garage, first thing in the morning, after the oil has had overnight to completely drain into the sump. At that time, the electronic display and dipstick gave very similar readings.

Dipstick rears half

level indicator reads top line with one block above

I will take the dipstick reading as true
