Radio switches off for a while after starting

Hi, I have a 1999 Boxster 2.5. Recently the (standard) radio works immediately when I turn the ignition on - but after starting the engine it goes off. Then, after about 5 minutes driving, it comes on again, and all is good. Not a major issue, but curious to know the cause. I wonder whether it is very sensitive to voltage and my battery is a bit sub optimal from cold? Any one else experienced this or can suggest a solution?

Not heard of that with a Standard Radio, I have an aftermarket radio which restarts when you start the car. Imagine mine is due to a drop in voltage whilst the car is starting, i tend to start the car right away so not a big issue for me, so never looked further into it as it's fine the rest of the time

Hi,
I have a 2007 Boxster and mine has just started doing the same. Sometimes it starts up fine other times it takes 5 to 10 minutes before it boots up.
It used to reboot itself very occasionally during a drive which I just put down to power spikes.
I’m going to be investigating this weekend (just checking connections/fuses/wiring) and will post findings during the week.

OK, so took my radio out and took it apart, gently blew it out with an airline and put it back together checking all internal connections.
Then, when reinstalling it noticed a conflict in the securing clips for the power connector and the MOST connector. If the power was connected first the MOST wouldn’t fit correctly and if I fitted the most first I had to push quite hard to seat the power connector properly. I did the later and reinstalled the radio. It is Now working fine at the moment, so it looks like one of the above has fixed it but don’t know which one.
A happy result anyway.
