condensation

Hi all
Having some issues with my 996 c4 convertible facelift 01. Previously had sodden carpet behind drivers seat and this was resolved with the drain holes being cleared by an indy. Recently I have had condensation to the point where the inside of the car notably the front and rear screens is like being inside an artificial rain forest. I noticed that the hood was not sitting correctly and I rectified this by closing the hood slowly and pushing the defective part in to its correct position while in motion, condensation has now gone. Unfortunately another issue has reared its ugly head, I now have condensation on the ignition where you put your key in and only on saturday I went for a drive got home and remove the key and the engine was still running, after several attempts of re-inserting the key did the engine shut off. Can anyone please shine some light on this issue as other warning lights have started to appear and then re-set themselves .
Thanks in advance

Thank you Andy for the quick response.
will this cure both symptoms or only the problem with the engine running when key removed ?

Should do as the ignition switch can cause numerous electrical anomalies & also key insert and removal issues.

Could the moisture/condensation cause an issue with the ignition and would it be prudent to address this problem first. If in your opinion one is not connected to the other and just coincidence then I will replace the part suggested.

Water and electrics don’t mix well but I cannot see how the water would get into that switch.

Thank you Andy for giving your time to respond to my questions. Will order part for ignition and one problem solved.
Next up where would water be getting in to form condensation/ water droplets on ignition barrel.

Personally I would double check ALL the drains, especially the ones that terminate under the rear wheel arch liners (easy to remove) are very prone to blocking as there is a plastic check
valve at it's end.
Do a google search (996 cab drains. 996 blocked drains etc) lots of info out there on Pistonheads and Rennlist etc.
good luck
Andy
