911 Carrera Targa

Hello all.
I have a couple of points I would appreciate your help with.
I have owned my 3.2 since last summer and am aiming to have the targa top recovered when the weather breaks.
I know Mohair is not standard but does anybody have an opinion in the Mohair/Vinyl debate ?
The top needs re-aligning and the locating pins replacing.
Any opinions on Dinitrol treatment to the underside of the car ?
Are the Handbrake/brake wear/ seat belt warning lights as difficult to find as it seems ? Can they be repaired ?

Thanks for your time.
Tony.

I had my targa top redone by Southbound a few years back. They had a one year waiting list. Cost was about £1K for a complete rebuild. No seals were replaced as they were all deemed serviceable. They did a good job but I think they could have done better. If I had to do it again I would ship it to carsincnj.com in the US; Dan has an enviable reputation as a targa top rebuilder. The website isn't much to look at but read his posts on Pelican's forum and you'll realise his level of expertise. Many people can recover a top to look acceptable; few can do it to factory standards where it remains taut and quiet at motorway speeds.

Hi let me congratulate you on having the best model of 911 Porsche a Targa just like my car twins ??? ( the tin tops owners are jealous only 20% of production were a Targa I believe) I have owned my 87 Targa for 7 years do all my own work I have rebuilt the front end replaced all the soft oil lines also full exhaust and heating system

As far as rust is concerned with any 911 check underneath for any bubbling of the anti-chip as it does hold any damp just like you see on alloy wheels that have been lacquered
I use a range of products made by Bilth Hamber anti corrosion products this stuff is used in the oil industry to treat the rust , Deox-Gel is easy to apply its like wall paper paste leave for 5 hours or longer don't let it dry out then use a plastic tooth bush wash off with water dry with hair dryer ,you can put it on rusty chrome and it will only attack the rust leaving the chrome ,I have put it on the rust stained tool roll and its looks better Best to look at their website as I could go on and on.

As regards to the Targa top I have purchased from E bay made in Germany its a replacement fabric hood cost 150.00 but haven't yet fitted it waiting for warmer weather and more information for how replace will need to check out the American website Pelican
