991 not taking charge

Hi All

looking for wisdom outside of what I should have done (i.e. kept it on a trickle charger, stored my locking nut inside the car, etc)....Here's the deal:

1. I have a 991.2 turbo under full warranty
2. It was on a trickle charger but in a remote garage
3. Unbeknown to me power was lost to the remote garage, assuming it was sometime before Xmas (I last used the car in Oct)
4. I came to start the car, totally dead
5. I've tried a booster pack via the fuse box connector to pop the bootlid solenoid to access the battery
6. Even after a wall charger hooked up after 2 days, the bootlid won't respond (using the key for 2 seconds as per every other solution post)
7. Recognising there is a cable pull under the wheel arch liner (is it driver's side on a RHD / C16 car?) how to get the wheel off given the locking nut is in the front boot / 'frunk'

Porsche Assistance (the AA) couldn't get their van across a field to the remote garage due it being boggy and I had to pull them out with my 4wd (I rescued the AA...). They tried with a booster pack but no good. So rather than wait for the field to dry out enough for the AA to come along again and scratch their head, am I missing something re: blown fuse that is stopping the battery from taking charge / etc. Also, can I simply turn the front wheels to access the arch liner enough to get to the bonnet release cable?

any solutions welcome

thanks in advance

Your no. 5 solution should work - booster lead from power pack to red fuse and earth to door hinge. Wait a couple of minutes for power to wake things up and then press boot opener on key fob for 2 seconds. Or try bonnet release lever in door sill. Make sure red crocodile clip is connected properly to red jumper fuse (metal part). You mention wall charger. Do you mean trickle charger with crocodile clips to fuse because I do not think that will work? I would use a booster or jump start pack (or another (charged!) car battery.
Good luck. Porsche Assistance (i.e. AA) given warranty might be the fallback as I think wheel arch option is the last resort - drivers side would be my starting point...

Hi Mezger,
Sorry can’t offer any other advice apart reiterating Keithn comments.
Just wondering if you had resolved the problem?

Hi Keithn and Eric, I'm just back from work travel so will tackle the car again tomorrow. If still no good (it's been on a wall charger since Monday) via clips on the red fuse box tab and grounded to the door jamb, I'm reluctant to call Porsche assistance (AA) as I figure they'll end up having to go via the wheel arch cable which means wheel off and locking nut is in the bonnet (which means a long winded call to Porsche GB identifying me, the car, etc before coughing £60 and 3 days on a replacement nut - yes, I've been there before with my 997). Maybe the AA have a universal locking nut that will get the wheel off and then to the cable? If so, it's a more direct solution. It's a sore lesson to learn vis-à-vis diligent trickle charging.

thanks for your comments nonetheless

Borrow a fully charged battery and connect it up via some jump leads. You should now be able to open all the relevant compartments electronically.
The problem with a completely flat battery is you can't get the charging cycle to start when there's no juice at all.
BTW you should be able to access the emergency luggage lid cable without road wheel removal.
Regards,

Clive
