New toy from Costco

I'm getting too old for working under cars on jack stands/wood blocks. Seen this sort of setup for around £1200, less at costco?

£960 - not had time to play with it yet though. Not even unlocked the car yet and it’s been back in the garage a week [:D]

these days as long as you own your own company you can get a card.. my son's is under his company name RSH Performance, my wife is a manager of the local authority which is why she can have a card... My son has given out cards to his brothers too... I can't remember how many you are allowed but think at least 3 to named family members.

We have 3 cards-diesel/petrol economic-plus household consumables ,cat litter, bird nuts ,peanuts for our red squirrels, whisky etc & I have looked longingly at these on the shelf-but can't really justify one unless we get a Cayman or similar- either that or I make a lot of profit from 1 of my special metalwork refurb contracts.

Nice! and I have had a set of similar looking tiles to go down on my garage floor (for about 10 years [&o])

That is 50% more expensive though, and then a 2 post lift doesn't look much more - but then you need the space :)

I've had my car that high on 4 wooden platforms, I'd want to to sit on a low stool rather than laying on the floor. A 2 post needs a suitable base too.

I have a hole in the garage floor deep enough for a comfy seat so can appreciate the comfort of working underneath from a seat! working on wheels etc the costco unit is probably fine but the higher lift unit does give you more options.

The Costco offer for the money is brilliant-don't knock it-if you buy the 12V version ,it becomes totally portable ,useable where no power supply exists-fits any width & with extra rubber pads can lift higher.(need a spare battery (or the car battery )or a boost starter pack
For undercar working ,a sensible depth pit would give sitting room easily-brake jobs etc are easier using a mechanic's adjustable stool ( which I always use ( have done for years)

30 odd years ago I used to change clutch/gearboxes using wobbly axle stands/ramps. Today I'd spend a few extra quid for a bit more room.

Having looked at many different options and price points, the QuickJack was the best fit for "my” needs.

There‘s a tradeoff to be had no matter what you get really - there isn’t a right or wrong answer and hopefully my post and pictures give some more details into one of the alternatives.

For me, I’m limited by how high I can lift the car and I wanted something I could shift out of the way too.
