Locking system

Hi all, I have a 1999 996 and both of my keys have lost connection with the car, as I have to use the key lock to enter the car it sets the alarm off so I quickly put the key into the ignition and turn it on, unfortunately this doesn’t unlock the passenger door, so I have to close my door and press the button on the dash to let the passenger in or reach across and pull the lever, just wondered has anyone and ideas why the both keys lost there remote connection, or how can I get the passenger door to open when I unlock the car with the key. I believe having the passenger unlock with a key is an Mot requirement

Thanks

Hi Beetlebum !
I had a similar problem which was fixed by finding/changing the small fuse in the ECU that's under the passenger seat !! Fiddly but cheap .I hope this works for you ?

Hi, no not yet but I intend to investigate, I did some more searching, there’s a 15 amp mini fuse that can blow, apparently the petrol cap lock can short it.
;-)
