Engine cover bobbins

Has anyone replaced these with anything other than OE parts? Call me a cheapskate, but at over £100 a set from Porsche, when I am pretty sure I can get a set of standard AV mounts for lessthan £10. Just wondered if anyone else has done this before?

are you referring to the little male / female bobbins that hold the Variocam Badge and fuel rail cover on?
the top separates from the bottom which can be a real pain to remove from the cam cover, I just spot welded a nut to the plate, you can try tapping them round with a punch, but if you snap it off be careful you don't drill right through when you have to drill it out

if so try these,

they are exactly the same

just measure the threads and body size, the PET parts listing is wrong, there are only 2 mounts, if you fit 4 the cover hits the inside of the bonnet
so only two on the variocam badge, and just normal Stainless bolts and washers on the inlet manifold side,

I bought some for the cover, the fuel filter mount, the air box front stabiliser bar, about £14, that lot from Porsche is about £160

As Waylander says, don't fit 4 of them or you may get a dent on the bonnet where the end of the Variocam cover hits it.

Don't ask me how I found out! []
